Essential Job Accountabilities Perform on‑site equipment maintenance evaluations with maintenance teams to identify maintenance practices needing improvement. Provide technical on‑the‑job training for maintenance personnel to improve skills, maintenance, and repair best practices. Coordinate with Operations, Central Services, and Engineering personnel for scheduled maintenance and equipment repairs, as well as capital projects. Provide leadership for Safety, Health, and Environmental issues. Develop and improve equipment support and service to operations. Manage and analyze the maintenance department’s budgeting and monthly costs. Plan contingency, including maintaining critical spares where plausible. What You'll Do Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and comply with all Vulcan policies and procedures. Organize and Plan Maintenance. Plan and schedule the daily maintenance functions in coordination with plant operations to ensure optimal performance and utilization of plant, equipment, and personnel. Manage Employee Relations. Provide strong leadership, training, team building, and supervision to all maintenance employees. Work cross‑functionally with HR to recruit new employees, provide merit increases, perform disciplinary actions, and evaluate employee performance to develop talent. Monitor Processes and Materials. Analyze production in coordination with operations and quality control to ensure customers receive a quality product. Monitor operational reports to ensure best practices in processing and effective maintenance functions. Implement and monitor a preventive maintenance program to limit work stoppages, downtime, or other disruptions. Maintain Compliance. Build a strong safety culture to ensure the maintenance team complies with Vulcan’s safety, operations, and environmental policies and procedures. Manage the health and safety of employees to improve Vulcan’s health & safety performance continuously. Inspect Equipment and Perform Repairs. Manage the organization of employees’ work in the daily. Skills and Qualifications Experience: Previous experience managing and supervising maintenance and production employees at an aggregate, sand/gravel, or asphalt plant operation is preferred. Technical skills in all areas of maintenance are required. Leadership and Management Skills: Must provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships. Operational Knowledge: Must demonstrate knowledge of mobile and plant equipment, MSHA regulations, engineering principles and procedures, and project management skills. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent motivator and team builder. Must form strong social relationships and communicate effectively. Financial Knowledge: Leading financial performance to established targets, meeting or exceeding performance goals. Working Conditions: Must work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate exposure to loud noises. What You’ll Like About Us Salary Range: $110,648 to $131,610 annually, inclusive of regional supplement and shift differential. Rotating Shift Schedule: Two supervisors will work a four‑day on, four‑day off schedule to support the maintenance team at Havre de Grace. Shift Differential: Night Shift employees receive an additional 15% on their base pay.
