Supervisor: Laboratory Manager

Hours per week: 40/Non-Exempt (Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm)

Department: Laboratory

Hiring Bonus: $1,000 after 90 days

Primary Function: Responsible for performing testing on specimens, maintaining instrumentation, documenting quality assurance and quality control, troubleshooting and resolving issues (instrument, procedural, specimen processing, patient and/or reference laboratory) and reporting results

Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions):

• Process samples following written procedures and turn out results for the following benches: Urinalysis, Hematology, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular, Serology
• Monitor quality of and trouble-shoot potential problems with laboratory instruments
• Perform preventative maintenance on lab equipment
• Run and evaluate quality control specimens on all assays and procedures as required. Troubleshoot and resolve issues. Report issues to management when necessary
• Run and report proficiency testing specimens to meet the established due date
• Assist in the evaluation of new assay procedures
• Conduct inventory of lab supplies, maintaining adequate inventory. Replenish supplies as needed and discard containers appropriately
• Maintain clean work area and dispose of bio-hazardous waste properly
• Act as back-up to phlebotomist and specimen processor as required
• Update lab procedure manuals
• Prepare specimens for future analysis in house (i.e. freeze, refrigerate, protect from light, as needed)
• Prepare samples for transport and analysis to the correct reference laboratory
• Enter test data into computer, maintain logs and records, and compile statistics for control data
• Answer phone and notify proper personnel regarding unexpected or action limit test results
• Participate as an active team member in a patient-centered medical home
• Be courteous and respectful to all customers or members of the public while in the course and scope of company business
• Work cooperatively with management/supervision, coworkers, customers and vendors
• Abid by all company policies
• Maintain regular, in person, work attendance and punctuality, as scheduled

Requirements: Medical Technologist or ASCP equivalent
