Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/16/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Sep 16, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/PCU position requiring frequent floating to ICU and MedSurg units with a valid SC or compact RN license Details Work in a 21-bed Stepdown/PCU unit with frequent floating to ICU and MedSurg units Patient ratios are Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, and MedSurg 1:5-6 Manages non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene Cares for vascular patients (fem-pop, CEA), NSTEMI, and post cardiac cath with intervention patients Manages CIWA patients receiving IVP Ativan (no precedex) Provides care for peritoneal dialysis and HD patients in the Dialysis Department Manages stable BiPAP, heated HiFlow Provides wound care and nebulizer treatments Uses Meditech EMR Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:00 Every other weekend (EOW) required Weekly orientation held every Wednesday Requirements Active SC RN license or compact license required Minimum 2 years of PCU, Stepdown, or ICU experience required ICU experience required due to frequent floating Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Meditech charting experience preferred Previous charge nurse experience preferred Community hospital experience preferred Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/peripheral line management, and blood product administration Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care Experienced in cardiac drip and vasoactive drip titration Experienced in dysrhythmia interpretation and management Experienced in wound care/wound vac and cardiovascular care including pacemakers and post cardiac cath management Additional Information Frequent floating required across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units within a single facility Floating conducted in rotation with staff based on clinical experience, with appropriate orientation provided per Joint Commission standards Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate Royal blue and white scrubs required Some holiday and weekend coverage expected in rotation with staff RTO must be approved prior to assignment start, with minimal to no time off requested, especially during the first few weeks Returning staff must have been gone at least one year and in good standing at time of departure to be eligible American Traveler Job ID P-739781.
