Description:
The position involves working in an outpatient clinic specializing in hematology oncology.
The nurse will utilize IV pumps and have access to a hoyer lift for non-ambulatory patients.
Chemotherapy infusion chairs that recline are available for patient comfort.
Computer carts on wheels are provided to facilitate traveling to patient chairside.
The infusion area features 16 chairs and 6 private rooms.
Onsite mixing pharmacy for chemotherapy and immunotherapy is available.
The team comprises three medical oncologists with dedicated support staff, including nurses and medical assistants.
Five nurses will be staffing the infusion area along with a charge nurse.
Emergency services from the attached hospital can be utilized as needed.
Interdisciplinary support includes services such as social work, dietetics, and nurse navigation.
The role requires strong skills in patient care, including administration of intravenous infusions, medication reconciliation, and patient teaching.
Attention to patient health and safety is paramount.
The nurse will also perform vital signs monitoring and provide pain assessment as part of patient management.
