Position Title SENIOR ATTORNEY – 43004011 Agency and Division Office of Financial Regulation (OFR), Office of General Counsel, Department of Financial Services Location Flexible – OFR may consider any of these office locations as the primary reporting office location: Tallahassee (Headquarters), Miami, Orlando, and Tampa. Overview The Office of Financial Regulation (OFR) is responsible for licensing, chartering, examining, and regulating depository and non‑depository financial institutions and financial service companies across the state of Florida, including state‑chartered banks, credit unions, trust companies, loan originators, mortgage lenders, securities dealers, investment advisors, consumer collection agencies, and money transmitters. This position involves representing the State of Florida in criminal or civil litigation, administrative and other legal proceedings, drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, and advising agency personnel on legal issues and transactions. Responsibilities Render legal advice and counsel to agency personnel on OFR policies and regulations, legislative matters, statutory interpretations and rule promulgation; draft complaints, proposed orders, declaratory statements, stipulations and consent agreements; conduct independent and varied legal research; conduct case presentation, examine and cross‑examine witnesses, summarize cases for presentation to judges or juries; interview clients, witnesses, victims and other relevant parties; provide assistance to state and federal prosecutorial agencies; use the Regulatory Enforcement and Licensing (REAL) System for time‑tracking, case tracking, and documentation; and perform other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements Applicants must be members of the Florida Bar. Two (2) or more years of professional experience in the practice of law. Preferences Experience in administrative or financial regulatory law. Experience in conducting investigations or depositions. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge and experience of Chapters 120 and 517, Florida Statutes. Knowledge and experience with appellate, civil, and administrative litigation. Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to conduct research and prepare pleadings and reports. Ability to utilize problem‑solving techniques. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to work under pressure and be results oriented. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), legal research programs and Adobe Acrobat Professional. Other KSAs (Incumbent may learn on job) Effectively utilize agency hardware and software programs including proficient utilization of the Regulatory Enforcement and Licensing (REAL) System. Salary and Compensation The anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000. The starting salary shall be commensurate with the selected candidate’s competencies and qualifications. Travel and Background Check This position may require 1 – 25 % travel. It requires a security background check, including fingerprinting, as a condition of employment.
