As the largest self-supported food service department in North Texas UNT Dining Services is setting the standard for campus dining. With five Dining Halls more than 20 retail locations an upscale restaurant a hydroponic garden a central scratch bakery and full-service catering the department is led by a team of professionally trained chefs and hospitality experts. UNT Dining Services is home to Mean Greens Café the nations first 100% vegan collegiate dining hall and Kitchen West Texas first and only university dining hall certified Free From the Big 8 food allergens and 2021 UNT introduced Eagle Landing the universitys first standalone dining hall inspired by urban food halls and featuring seven distinct restaurant conceptsall available for a single Meal Plan swipe.

Position Overview

The UNT Dining Associate at Mean Greens plays an essential role in supporting safe efficient and consistent dining operations within UNT Dining Services. This position assists with daily kitchen production meal service sanitation and general dining area operations to help ensure quality service for students faculty staff and guests.

The Dining Associate works collaboratively with cooks production staff supervisors and other dining team members to support timely meal preparation and service while following established food safety sanitation and operational standards. This role may provide support across various service areas as needed helping maintain adequate staffing and smooth operations during meal periods.

The Dining Associate contributes to a welcoming and positive dining environment by maintaining clean organized and well-stocked work and service areas assisting with food preparation and service and responding to operational needs in a professional and timely manner. The position is an important part of the Mean Greens team and helps provide a safe clean and enjoyable dining experience for the UNT community.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently with attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of food service sanitation and workplace safety practices or the ability to learn and apply these practices promptly
• Ability to stand walk lift bend and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods throughout a scheduled work shift
• Demonstrated reliability dependability and punctuality
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team-oriented environment while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a passion for providing exceptional service.

Preferred Qualifications

6 Months General Dining Retail working experience but not required

Job Duties

• Assist in preparation of high-quality baked good items each meal service including daily prepared items. Knowledge of the proper care and use of food service equipment and kitchen utensils understands health hazards related to food preparation and service and is aware of necessary precautionary measures including safety and security protocols relevant to the work performed. Follows standardized processes to minimize turnaround time and ensure a consistent supply of cleaned and sanitized dishes pots and pans. Assists with additional duties as assigned. - (Essential)
