Full Time Phoenix, AZ, US 2 days ago Requisition ID: 2023 Salary Range: $19.00 To $23.00 Hourly Department: Workforce Position Summary St. Vincent de Paul’s Neighborhood Brigade provides a dignified work experience for individuals living in shelter or transitional housing who are interested in taking a first step to enter or re-enter the workforce. Reporting to the Workforce Support Manager, the Neighborhood Brigade Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of Neighborhood Brigade activities, including recruiting and coaching Crew Members, organizing approved projects, coordinating schedules and supplies, and maintaining strong communication with community partners and internal teams. This role supports Crew Members as they build workplace habits, confidence, and practical job skills while connecting them to Case Managers, Navigators, and other resources that support long-term housing and employment stability. The ideal candidate enjoys working as part of a team of staff and volunteers and can think and act quickly when there is a need to pivot or address an operational concern. This candidate understands that Crew Members are learning how to enter or re-enter the workforce and can maintain patience, consistency, and encouragement for the populations we serve. This individual can work independently while ensuring complete and thorough communication with team members and program leadership. The best candidate for this role is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable coordinating multiple moving parts, and able to encourage follow-through from Crew Members. This individual must be energetic, resourceful, reliable, and able to build respectful working relationships with Crew Members, community partners, neighborhood residents, businesses, and SVdP staff. Key Responsibilities Recruits Crew Members among interim housing/emergency shelter clientele. Acts as the Crew Member primary point of support for onboarding and employment requirements, which include a background check, and takes them for their drug screen when necessary. Works closely with Workforce Support Manager to ensure that all onboarding items are completed promptly. Conducts Neighborhood Brigade Intakes and documents clearly and professionally. Ensure that complete and accurate electronic records of guest intakes and exits are generated within 24 hours of interaction. Organizes and coordinates neighborhood beautification projects, litter pickups, food service support, and other approved work opportunities for Crew Members. Transports crew members to appointments and special project worksites when necessary Coordinates with community partners, neighborhood residents, businesses, SVdP departments, and volunteers to support project planning and successful day-to-day operations. Promotes great relationships between SVDP, neighborhood residents and businesses. Documents program activities , tracks Crew Member work hours , and maintains accurate records to support reporting and program oversight . Keeps track of Crew Members hours worked and reports any changes to Workforce Support Manager in a timely manner. Monitors, maintains, and distributes inventory of work crew supplies. Supports shelter staff with coordinating and conducting activities. Communicates concerns and successes appropriately to supervisors and stakeholders. Provides documentation, data, and updates to the Workforce Support Manager and Program Manager to support monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting. Supports the Workforce Support Manager with developing and coordinating Crew Member trainings , life-tools classes , and job-readiness activities. All other duties as identified by the Workforce Support Manager. Participate in and serve as a model for SVdP’s Culture of Philanthropy, and ensure SVdP volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated * Volunteer engagement and appreciation, as well as Culture of Philanthropy participation are part of all job descriptions at SVdP, and a very important part of the organizational culture and values Skills and Abilities Required Excellent communication, organization skills, and ability to interact with guests, staff, and volunteers required. Strong computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Suite programs, experience in HMIS, and excellent electronic communication and documentation abilities preferred. This position may require transportation of clients to connect with services. A driver’s license and 39-month motor vehicle record will be required. Ability to report to more than one work site is required. Caring and friendly attitude toward program participants required. Minimum Hiring Requirements (Education and Experience) High school diploma or GED One year of relevant experience working or volunteering with individuals experiencing homelessness. Peer support certified is a plus. Relevant experience coordinating projects, coaching team members, or supporting workforce development activities is a plus. Physical Requirements Abilities to walk and be on feet for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, sit, bend, and twist to transfer objects, and reach are required for this position. Ability to work outdoors for a few hours at a time. Level 1 – Brigade Coordinator I (starting $19/hour) General Professionalism (Entry / Familiarity) Completes all required training within 90 days. Demonstrates foundational skills in crew coordination, documentation, and program support, as evidenced by skills checklist, including the following: Recruits crew members from interim housing and explains program expectations clearly. Supports onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, paperwork) in coordination with Supportive Services Manager. Conducts Brigade intakes and enters accurate documentation within 24 hours. Tracks crew participation and work hours consistently and accurately. Oversees the work of the Brigade, including neighborhood beautification and litter abatement projects. Transports crew members safely when needed. Maintains basic inventory awareness of supplies and reports needs. Communicates professionally with crew members, staff, and partners. Demonstrates reliability, organization, and professionalism in daily duties. Learns and applies trauma-informed engagement and SVdP program principles. Level 2 – Brigade Coordinator II ($21/hour) Understanding Culture & Demonstrating Proactivity (Proficiency + Experience) Requirements Average score of at least 2.0 on Brigade Skills Checklist. Completion of at least one self-initiated training or professional development activity. Independently manages recruitment, onboarding coordination, and intake processes. Works proactively with Workforce Support Manager to ensure onboarding completion with minimal delays. Coordinates daily work crews and schedules projects. Tracks Crew Member timecards accurately and on time. Maintains inventory systems and ensures crews have necessary supplies. Strengthens partnerships with community stakeholders and project sites. Promotes positive relationships between crew members, residents, businesses, and SVdP. Identifies challenges and implements solutions. Actively participates in team problem-solving and cross-department collaboration. Level 3 – Senior Brigade Coordinator ($23/hour) Leadership Readiness (Comfortable Helping to Train Others) Requirements Average score of at least 2.5 on Brigade Coordinator Skills Checklist. Completion of 20+ hours of specialized training. Leads recruitment strategy and improves crew pipeline development. Serves as primary liaison for onboarding systems and process improvement. Oversees multiple crews and complex project coordination. Trains and mentors new Brigade Coordinators or program staff. Designs and improves workflows for intake, time tracking, and project execution. Builds and sustains strong partnerships with community stakeholders. Provides leadership in conflict resolution and coaching. Monitors program outcomes and recommends improvements. Ensures high-level accuracy in reporting and documentation.
