Location: Kent Campus Hospital Status: Part Time 40 Hours Shift: Variable SALARY RANGE: 19.18 - 28.77 HOURLY General Summary: The centralized patient care services Staffing Coordinator works in conjunction with the nursing leadership and House Supervisors in coordinating adequate unit staffing based on current patient needs. This position ensures unit-based schedules provide even coverage on each shift prior to staff review to ensure patient needs are met. This position is responsible for assigning float pool staff and sitter staff to units and departments with the greatest needs. Additional responsibilities include providing information needed for staffing reports to determine efficiency across the enterprise. Responsibilities: 1. Assists in coordinating staffing coverage for census fluctuations, acuity changes, unscheduled PTO, bereavement leaves, jury duty and emergency absences. Coordinate nursing, nursing assistant and unit secretary assignments by calling, pulling, canceling and making shift changes. 2. Communicates with Nurse Managers, Directors and House Supervisors as necessary regarding unit staffing and scheduling. Notifies of potential issues/solutions and collaborates to determine staffing requirements. 3. Coordinates data collection and reports staffing efficiency to patient care services leadership team. 4. Collaborates with Patient Flow Specialist and House Supervision to maximize patient flow from outpatient departments, peri-op services, emergency department, and physician practice offices. 5. Creates direct admission accounts for patients admitted to system from external sources. 6. Coordinates and assigns the use of temporary agency staff as needed. 7. Enters appropriate staffing and census data into the scheduling software program on a daily and weekly basis. 8. Collects nursing data and maintains specific staff audit reports as requested by nursing leadership. 9. Pursues opportunities to improve scheduling efficiencies and resolves identified problems. 10. Participates in Joint Commission process as it relates to staffing and scheduling 11.
