Job Title: FBC RN - Labor and Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7 PM - 7 AM) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery License: Current RN license in Indiana or compact license Certifications: BLS (AHA only), NRP required, STABLE preferred Must-Have: - Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring experience - Minimum of 2 years labor and delivery experience - Familiarity with AWHONN guidelines Description: Care of the laboring, pre-term, and post-partum OB patients and newborns is required. The role involves vaginal deliveries, cesarean deliveries, and neonatal resuscitation. Candidates should be proficient in cervical exams and fetal monitor interpretation. Equipment utilized includes EPIC documentation, Pyxis medication management, Hospira IV pumps, and GE Corometric fetal monitoring. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:1 during active labor when the patient is on Pitocin, and 3:3 for couplets. Floating to other units/departments is rare. Dress code includes scrubs provided by the facility. A jump start then department orientation will be provided as needed to demonstrate competencies. Mandatory attendance is required for the full orientation program.
