Community Life Assistant - SFC

The Community Life Assistant supports the Director of Community Life in the planning, coordination, and execution of resident programs, events, and community initiatives. This position plays a visible, resident-facing role in fostering an engaging, inclusive, and vibrant campus culture.

This is a 16 - 20 hours per week position. The candidate must be willing to work 3 weekdays and 1 weekend day each week, 4+ hour shifts. Flexible on when the shift starts and ends as long as it's between the hours of 9:00AM and 6:00PM.

Essential Responsibilities

Program & Event Management

• Supporting resident programs, cultural events, and social activities throughout the year.
• Coordinating event logistics including room reservations, setup/breakdown, hospitality, and day-of-event oversight.
• Coordinating weekly happy hour programming and musician scheduling.
• Assisting in organizing signature events such as the annual Luau, Summer Ice Cream Social Series, Halloween Party, Veterans Day Program, and New Resident Coffee gatherings.
• Taking event photographs and managing digital display updates and community monitor content.
• Tracking attendance and gathering resident feedback to inform future programming.

Resident Engagement & Committees

• Assisting with onboarding and engagement of new residents through welcome programs and campus introductions.
• Coordinating volunteer schedules and communications for resident support groups.

Transportation & Logistics

• Coordinating transportation for resident outings, cultural programs, and special events.
• Arranging buses and transportation logistics for funerals and Celebrations of Life.
• Collaborating with Facilities, Dining, IT, and other departments to ensure smooth event execution.

Administrative Support

• Maintaining organized program files, contracts, and vendor records.
• Supporting preparation of printed materials and signage for events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Hospitality, Recreation, Event Management, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in event coordination, community programming, hospitality, or senior living.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience working with older adults preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
