Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and make appropriate changes to the plan of care within the multidisciplinary team
• Provide explanation and instructions to patients and/or responsible persons regarding respiratory disease processes, intervention procedures, and discharge planning
• Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care
• Provide respiratory care as ordered by physician while maintaining communication with medical and nursing staff
• Share clinical knowledge with staff and students and serve as a role model for clinical practice
• Accept reassignment to other units when necessary

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Active Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner License required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working within a multidisciplinary care team environment
• Experience providing patient and family education related to respiratory conditions and care
