We design, sell, and distribute luxury custom seating to interior designers and boutique/luxury retailers around the world.Burton James is seeking a skilled Framer / Carpenter to support our Frame & Build team. This role involves cutting and assembling wood frames for custom upholstered furniture, as well as general carpentry to create other wood components. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to consistent quality, accurate measurements, and efficient work habits.Core ResponsibilitiesMeasure, cut, and assemble solid hardwood frames for custom upholstered furniture by following work orders, shop drawings, and reference photosFabricate wood components such as frames, legs, bases, and other parts using standard carpentry techniquesOperate woodworking machinery and hand tools, including table saws, miter saws, band saws, planers, and jointers, safely and accuratelyInstall blocking, reinforcement, and other required components during and after frame assemblyRoutinely check measurements, squareness, and alignment prior to releasing frames to the next departmentMake adjustments or repairs as needed to ensure frames meet quality and measurement standardsFollow daily build schedules and priorities as assigned by the department leadAdditional ExpectationsBe punctual and dependable; provide advance notice of schedule conflicts or absencesDemonstrate a willingness to learn new techniques and improve skills over timeMaintain a clean, organized workstation; care for tools and equipment to ensure longevity; and follow all safety protocolsWhat We Can Do For YouPlay a pivotal role in our company's transformation and growthAlign with a growing company that operates in the luxury marketProvide training and career development opportunitiesEnjoy a high-paced and collaborative work environmentEligible for up to a 6% employer 401(k) contribution following six months of employmentTake advantage of paid time off away from work, including scheduled company holidaysParticipate in competitive benefits and incentivizing programsTeam building company sponsored eventsEmployee discount and bi-annual sample saleExperience & Qualifications2-4 years of experience in furniture framing or carpentry, ideally in high-end or custom furniture productionExperience with precise measuring, cutting, and assembly, and familiarity with hardwoods, plywood, and other materials commonly used in furniture constructionStrong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanshipAbility to work efficiently and independently while communicating clearly and working well as part of a teamBilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred but not requiredPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that are required by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
