Accounting Specialist

Job Overview Under the general direction of the Construction Programs Accounting Manager, performs accounting duties related to construction accounting. Verifies and maintains system information for accuracy, analyzes and reviews contract encumbrances to ensure correct fund and account details, prepares monthly reports, monitors and updates information in computer systems, and assists in year-end close activities. What you will be doing: Maintains consultant resources in Skire, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date information. Contacts contractor liaisons to verify ongoing resource information and makes necessary updates. Submits a monthly report of all changes to the manager. Processes requisitions for contract encumbrances in Skire, ensuring fund availability, correct account strings, and valid supporting documentation reviewed and approved by designated personnel. Uses a personal computer to capture and maintain project activity data, reconcile funds, and prepare management reports as required. Examines and approves data entries into the Board’s computer systems. Maintains and records contract data, including fund encumbrances, based on source documentation. Completes the monthly census report. Prepares the contractor O&M report by gathering monthly expense data, setting up time codes, and maintaining the time code file. Communicates in writing and orally with contract administrators regarding payment issues, responds to audits, and certifies data accuracy. Performs timesheet verification to ensure accurate project/program cost accounting data and reports. What you need: High school diploma or equivalent. Four (4) years of responsible clerical or administrative experience in contract administration, purchasing, construction, or similar environment. Equivalent education or experience may be substituted. What we desire: College coursework in finance, business, or related fields. Experience administering contracts and payment provisions. Experience in purchasing operations. Experience with Oracle and/or Unifier applications.
