Structural Welder

Summary: Responsible for performing welding and grinding functions per job specifications. Selects equipment and plans layout and assembly of welding. Works closely and interacts with supervision. Works with precise limits and standards of accuracy. TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.” Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.” Efficiently produce quality welds. Perform or assist with fit‑up and preparation of welds. Perform or assist with post‑weld cleanup, inspection, and repair. Communicate regularly with the Field Foreman with regard to issues and concerns on the job site. Comply with all Matrix safety policies and programs. Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS + EXPERIENCE Prior related experience and/or training in a fabrication environment must be able to pass the following weld tests. Carbon Steel Plate Test SMAW E6010 (5P) 3G, Downhill SMAW E7018 – 2G, 3G, 4G Qualifications Must obtain and maintain an active status within the drug testing program and pass background screening. Must possess or be able to pass the Basic Safety Council Class Courses. Must complete the Matrix Service Basic Safety training and site‑specific training. Must possess a valid TWIC card. Site may require fire retardant clothing. Maintain clean shaven and/or free of facial hair so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly. (Site Specific) Must be willing to frequently travel/relocate. Must be willing to work frequent overtime. Physical Requirements Must have the ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Must be able and willing to work at elevated heights from ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, work platforms, etc. Work will include pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools. Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks. Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb. Work will include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers. Work involves standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to a minimum of 8‑10 hours per day. Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform tasks in hot and cold temperatures. The essential job functions and duties outlined in this position are considered safety sensitive. The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience, specific skill set, geographic location, internal equity, and other factors influencing pay. As such, the actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of this range, and in certain circumstances, may fall outside the listed hiring range.
