We’re committed to making a positive impact on the world, providing you with diverse learning and working opportunities, and fostering a culture where everyone’s empowered to be their best.The Human Resources Manager is the lead HR partner for a unionized railcar repair facility, driving employee and labor relations, talent acquisition, workforce planning, employee engagement, compliance, and organizational effectiveness. This hands-on leader works closely with plant leadership to build a high-performing, safety-focused culture while maintaining a strong presence on the shop floor. Success in this role requires sound decision-making, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to navigate complex employee and labor relations matters in a fast-paced industrial environment. This role is based onsite five (5) days per week and requires frequent interaction with employees and leaders throughout the industrial facility.Primary Responsibilities:Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:Partner with plant leadership to drive employee relations, labor relations, workforce planning, talent management, and HR strategy.Build strong relationships across the facility through a visible shop floor presence and active engagement with employees, leaders, union representatives, and community partners.Coach and influence leaders to strengthen performance, develop talent, improve engagement, and build succession pipelines.Lead employee and labor relations matters, including investigations, grievances, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, labor-management meetings, and contract administration.Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements, including job bidding, seniority, layoffs, recalls, and other union-related processes.Direct recruiting, onboarding, retention, and workforce planning efforts for hourly and salaried employees.Ensure compliance with employment laws, labor regulations, company policies, and workplace safety requirements.Champion employee engagement, recognition, communication, and culture-building initiatives that support a positive work environment.Analyze and leverage workforce metrics to identify trends, solve problems, and improve business outcomes.Drive HR and cross-functional initiatives that support operational excellence, continuous improvement, and organizational effectiveness.Promote and model company values while fostering a high-performing, inclusive, and accountable workplace culture.Required Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or possess equivalent experience.3 – 5 years of demonstrated progressive HR experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.Partner effectively with frontline leaders and support an hourly workforce.Navigate union environments, including contract administration, grievance resolution, and labor relations.Lead workplace investigations, employee relations matters, and performance management processes.Apply strong knowledge of employment laws, including FMLA and ADA.Influence leaders and build trusted relationships with employees, union representatives, and operational management.Communicate, negotiate, and resolve complex workplace issues with professionalism and confidence.Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.Support multiple shifts, weekends, holidays, and after-hours employee relations matters as needed.DisclaimerPlease note the duties listed are not set forth for purposes of limiting the assignment of work.
