Functions will include managing daily activities, staff, and programs of the Center while establishing and implementing strategic vision. The VP, Young Adult & Adolescent Services ensures the mission of organizational adolescent health services is advanced in alignment with HBH’s mission and through strategic planning, operational excellence, financial stewardship, and community engagement. This critical role cultivates a high performing environment focused on a culture of equity, inclusion, and collaboration while serving as the primary ambassador for BYC and other organizational adolescent health initiatives. Driving cross-functional collaboration, this role leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the vision of BYC and Howard Brown Health as well as supports culture enhancement and management efforts. Principal Duties and Accountabilities Strategic Leadership Provides strategic vision, direction, and measurable goals for all aspects of the Center as well as aligns all activities to the strategic plan of the HBH organization. Consistently identifies core and essential needs of the Center’s population and concepts programming to meet needs in alignment with BYC’s developed and implemented business model. Consistently evaluates the external environment toward evaluation and planning of risks, opportunities and threats while positioning BYC as a trusted nonprofit leader and advocates for youth rights and well-being. In partnership with HBH’s data team, serves as the primary strategic leader for all BYC data needs, ensuring data is used to drive targeted and data-driven interventions, track outcomes, define analytical requirements and monitor multi-level performance. Ensures responsible and ethical financial management within purview, including Center’s budget development, budget monitoring and management, resource planning and re-forecasting (where applicable). Consistently evaluates the external environment toward evaluation and planning of risks, opportunities and threats. Partners and collaborates with applicable and relevant stakeholders to integrate HBH service-line offerings toward ensuring a holistic Center experience. Identifies and advocates for the resources and infrastructure needed to meet established goals and drive success. Builds and collaborates in partnerships with nonprofits, government agencies, businesses, and community leaders. Oversees the quality and performance of Center’s programs, including monitoring achievement of programmatic scopes, resolving grievances and other incidents, and reviewing other performance measures. Provides leadership to new programmatic initiatives, which will further advance the mission. Partners with Finance Department to identify, source and manage private and public grants, which support the work of Center’s programs, including but is not limited to, authoring grant applications and reports, communicating with funders, and ensuring grant compliance. Establishes performance metrics and analyzes performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of established goals and refine strategies accordingly. Ensures timely and relevant process improvement assessment and action planning in alignment with organizational goals. Participates in standing and ad hoc committees particularly related to populations served through program offerings. Represents Howard Brown Health at community events and meetings. Human Capital Oversight Ensures consistent performance standards, skill-building, and a shared understanding of BYC strategy. Supervises, motivates, and supports direct and in-direct reports by setting clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback, and communicating how contributions connect to departmental and organizational goals. Champions agencywide culture-building initiatives, with a focus on operational excellence and mission alignment across all sites and teams. Other duties as assigned and/or required. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Public Health, Human Services, Business Administration, or related discipline required. Minimum eight (8) years’ progressive experience managing human services programs within healthcare and/or non-profit environments required. Of the eight years, minimum five (5) years’ experience focused on programmatic development and oversight as well as grant management and workforce supervision (individual/team) required. Preferred Experience / License / Certification Grant writing and grant submission experience preferred LCSW or similar license preferred Lean Six Sigma (green or black belt) certification preferred Advanced knowledge of youth development theory, principles and best practices Ability to demonstrate ethical and compliant practice in all bodies of work Ability to make formal and effective oral presentations Ability to prepare clear, concise, and effective reports, letter, and other documents Ability to evaluate procedures and issues and develop strategies and effective solutions Knowledge of cash-flow management and projections as well as budget creation and management Ability to plan, organize, and accomplish organizational goals and objectives Ability to handle and maintain highly confidential information with professional maturity Functional and proficient knowledge of various technologies including, but not limited to MS Suite and finance software platforms Effective communication competencies including written, verbal and listening Strong knowledge of research approaches and the ability to apply relevant approach toward desired outcome(s) Strong problem-solving acumen and the ability to engage for supervisory support when appropriate Ability to demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of equity, inclusion and diversity concepts, and that they are broader than just race, ethnicity, and gender Ability to work affirmatively with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and HIV positive patients ADA Specifications Requires ability to speak audibly and listen Requires ability to use computers, telephones and other office equipment Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time May require occasional bending and lifting up to 25 lbs.
