The role delivers ongoing medical care by diagnosing conditions, prescribing treatment plans, managing chronic care, and providing Medication Assisted Treatment services, including induction, follow-up, and medication management. The position documents care, orders and interprets labs, adheres to established policies and formularies, and supports continuity and standards of care within the facility.Key ResponsibilitiesExamine patients, conduct sick call, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds, and respond to health emergencies.Diagnose conditions, prescribe and manage treatment plans, and provide ongoing medical and MAT-related care.Conduct MAT assessments, inductions, follow-up appointments, and manage medication continuation and titration.Order and interpret laboratory tests and drug screens and utilize appropriate in-house and referral resources.Document patient encounters, maintain confidentiality, and comply with established policies, procedures, and standards of care.Additional DetailsIdeal candidates will have strong experience in substance use disorder treatment, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and chronic disease management, with the clinical judgment to independently assess, diagnose, prescribe, and manage patients in a correctional setting. They should be comfortable with CIWA/COWS assessments, MAT inductions and medication titration, ongoing SUD follow-up, lab and drug screen interpretation, and detailed clinical documentation. Experience with CalAIM, Medi-Cal, justice-involved populations, and coordinated reentry or continuity-of-care services is especially valuable. Candidates should also be adaptable enough to support general jail clinic needs, including sick call, chronic care, urgent/emergency care, and multidisciplinary collaboration.Qualifications & RequirementsEducationA graduate of an accredited school of nursingAn advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program.ExperiencePrior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred.Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment.Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage.Licenses/CertificationsMust have and maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment.Must have and maintain current CPR certification.We Are an Equal Employment Opportunity EmployerWe value the contributions of team members with a broad range of experiences, skills, and perspectives and are committed to providing equal employment opportunity for all.We encourage you to apply!
