Word processing and typing skills including proficiency in grammar, spelling and punctuation
Knowledge of data input and retrieval
Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of all office equipment and machines
Ability to work with public and staff in a positive manner
Reports to: Building Principal
Job Goal: Assist in the day-to-day operations necessary for the school

Job Goal: Assist in the day-to-day operations necessary for the school
building.
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of efficient office operation. Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a professional and effective working relationship with all school district employees, administrators, teachers, staff, and the general public.
- Meet the public with a pleasant, composed, and cordial manner through clear and effective speaking.
- Keep the Building Principal informed of activities needing his/her attention.
- Perform all receptionist functions for the school including receiving visitors and routing incoming calls.
- Operate the intercom system, including facilitating opening exercises and daily announcements.
- Process tardiness slips, student pick-up list, lunch ticket loan record, and routine requests of students by overseeing the General Aide assigned to the lobby.
- Handle all parent requests swiftly and appropriately, or direct to the attention of the appropriate person.
- Sort and distribute school mail.
- Oversee students during office visits, including administrative detentions.
- Review faculty and staff attendance and assist in obtaining coverage for faculty and staff as needed.
- Assist with student dismissal, e.g., parent pick-up.
- Accurately complete enrollment of new students, assuring all forms are completed, returned, documented, and filed.
- Maintain orderliness of all files, storage cabinets, shelving, and storage areas of Main Office.
- Prepare student awards, certificates, and diplomas.
- Complete the forms required for transferring students; prepare and mail files to the receiving school district.
- Assist with district-level data collection and distribution to the appropriate offices for new and existing students, i.e., MAP testing.
- Accurately document and transfer grade level student records to the receiving school, e.g., Harrison Township School to Pleasant Valley School, and Pleasant Valley School to Clearview Regional Middle School.
- Prepare and maintain a record of materials distributed to teachers and students, e.g. monthly roster, class programs, parent notices, etc.
- Maintain daily school attendance records and monthly registers, and prepare the end-of-year reports.
- Process routine faculty, staff, parent, and student requests.
- Assist the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) with secretarial functions at the building level, e.g., collection of funds and paperwork.
- Assist the Transportation Coordinator on an as-needed basis.
- Complete daily secretarial duties (photocopying, filing, telephone, mail, etc).
- Any and all other duties that may be assigned by the Building Principal.
