Growing together.The Nurse Manager is accountable for planning and oversight of department staff activities related to patient care, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to fiscal budget, policies, procedures, standards and regulations. He or she works collaboratively with others at all levels of the organization to create an environment of excellence, trust, and continual learning. Must be informed and maintain generalist nursing skill proficiency/competency in all aspects of clinical nurse responsibilities in an outpatient setting. Scope of responsibility will include oversight of a disease specific or patient population management program in multiple Departments and/or a high degree of patient complexity and/or multiple locations, with executive management approval.Primary Responsibilities:Provides leadership and direction for the clinic: Solicits clinic level nursing input and takes a leadership role in organizational-wide strategic planning activitiesParticipates and provides leadership on appropriate interdisciplinary committees within the organization that focus on patient care issuesConducts clinic staff meetings for problem identification, resolution, information sharing and educationMentors clinical staffIdentifies, plans, and implements educational opportunities for staffClinically supports activities at other locations as requested through site visit, telephone consultation, and work groupsPromotes effective delivery of competent patient care: Collaborates with clinical educators to develop and evaluate educational needs of the clinical staff, related to the patient population servedVerifies that new staff has completed general orientation and clinic department orientationVerifies annual updates of all staff in BLS, Environmental Health and Safety, and Infection Control and area specific requirementsManages, develops and evaluates personnel, and guides clinical performance by identifying strengths and weaknessesClarifies for staff their responsibilities and accountabilities as described in the Nurse Practice Act, job performance expectations, and organizational policies and proceduresIncorporates national specialty standards, regulatory agency standards to support clinical practicePromotes delivery of compassionate care: Develops and sustains a caring environment by role modeling positive verbal and non-verbal behaviorsEstablishes behavioral expectations for all clinic personnel that promote positive patient and peer relationsMonitors patient satisfaction through survey results and develops individual and group process improvement plans to effect improved scoresSupports patient teaching activities as a key nursing priority so that patients and families are supported to meet mutually agreed-upon educational needsWorks to resolve patient complaints related to providers, clinical or administrative staffPerforms any duties which are needed to promote patient satisfaction, improve patient care and facilitate clinic functioningEnsures delivery of safe, efficient care: Identifies and utilizes resources to address perceived problems in: patient education resources, staff education needs, resources availability, patient transition problems, financial data, multidisciplinary team functioning, and patient and family expectationsAddresses infection control data to determine effect on complications and initiates controls within the environment to decrease/stabilize this factorValidates with managing physicians that care provided to patients is consistent with evidence based practice and best practicesCollaborates with various ancillary services to assure appropriate supplies, equipment, laundry, pharmaceutical, and computer related issues and items are available to clinic site at all times for smooth, efficient patient care delivery*Adheres to resources/cost containment/budgetary guidelines. Recommends, monitors, and maintains an annual maintenance and operations budgetEstablishes staffing patterns that reflect appropriate use of budgeted positions as that overtime is reserved for unexpected increases in patient load, acuity, or unpredictable staff fluctuationsUses data to predict daily staffing needs, assess productivity, predict changes in budgetary requirements, and monitor leave timeDetermines needed changes in staffing levels to improve clinic site productivityCommunicates budget parameters working with clinic staff and Clinic Administrators to address problem areas to prevent lost revenueRemains knowledgeable of human and fiscal resource management with an ongoing awareness of healthcare policies and economicsSubmits expenditure justifications to direct report as requestedMaintains clinic site compliance with organizational, professional, regulatory and government standards of care Develops, plans, and implements changes needed within the clinic to promote clinic compliance with regulatory standardsImplements accreditation standards as they are related to clinic operations through planning and interventions designed to meet them within specified time framesTakes a lead role in maintaining accreditation from AAAHCImplements quality improvement and risk management programs: Ensures that quality improvement program is developed, initiated, maintained and evaluated on an ongoing basisConducts environmental rounds at the clinic site on a routine basisActs upon results of environmental rounds with the various departments to improve patient care/work areas and to meet patient safety standardsConfers with clinic Risk Management in situations when clinic or employee liability may be an issue. Provides appropriate Midas ReportingReviews reports on medication errors, unusual occurrences and develop, implement, and evaluate a plan to promote quality improvement in problem areasWorks with purchasing Department to develop routine in-services for proper usage, tagging for repair, cleaning and servicing of commonly used and specialized equipment in the clinicParticipate on projects or committees, as appropriateDevelop, implement and report on clinic-wide process/quality improvement programs that adhere to standardized PI/QI reporting format as assigned and approved by NPCAssumes responsibility for remaining current on job-related knowledge and skills Maintains license and certification requirementsStays current with national specialty standards and promotes professionalism in nursing through participation in professional organizations and /or utilization of the literatureActively participates in Nurse Practice Council (NPC) in a leadership role on NPC committees and participate in other nursing related workgroupsEmergency Response Develop clinic Emergency Response Plan and Emergency Preparedness Plan in collaboration with the Clinic Administrator and Managing Physician/Dept ChiefProvide Nursing leadership on Code Blue Teams and Code Orange TeamsConducts emergency drills as prescribe in policy(Only applicable to Nurse Manager over Diabetic Education and Nutritional Services) Establishes, maintains, and monitors the diabetes education and nutritional service programs throughout the clinic:Manages and coordinates the diabetes and nutrition programs, and reports contributions of these programs with respect to institutional goals to the Chief of Endocrinology and AdministrationDevelops policies, procedures, and reporting forms related to the patient education programsProvides direct teaching and/or management of high-risk patients with diabetes in accordance with an Endocrinologist's established algorithmsFunctions as a Case Manager for Diabetic patientsCollaborates with physicians, Health Services Coordinators, and nursing staff to identify patient populations requiring intensive patient education programsAttends Diabetes Committee meetings and other meetings as assignedWorks with Marketing to develop patient education materials and other marketing activitiesYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in nursing or 6+ years of supervisory/management experienceRN from accredited nursing programActive, current Texas licenseALS (within 3 months), BLS (AHA Healthcare Provider), PALS if supervise pediatric department (within 6 months) Personnel Management, Clinical Management4+ years of Clinical RN experience with 4+ years of supervisory/management experienceProficient keyboarding, Basic computer skillsProven ability to use equipment and related supplies for a selected patient populationProven ability to use mechanical devices, such as those used in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, oxygen administration, and intravenous therapyPreferred Qualifications:Masters degree in nursing or related fieldNurse Certification in work related field (within 1 year)PALS, CPR Instructor, refined public relations, verbal and writing expertise10+ years of Nursing Administration with associated clinical experienceExperience with EPIC systemPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment.
