Clinic SupervisorSioux Falls, South DakotaJob DescriptionMDE Job Description: Clinic SupervisorThe Clinic Supervisor (CS) is a Supervisory Certified Medical Assistant who is responsible for oversight of supporting operations and administration for a Medical Disability Examination (MDE) Clinic. The CS will help cultivate an environment that achieves the organization's mission through quality in care, efficiency, and a focus on core values. The CS will handle the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, and completion of contractual requirements with the end goal of delivering quality experience for the Veteran, providers, and communities served. The CS will report to the Area Manager (AM) or to a Clinic Manager (CM) as directed.Duties and FunctionsOperational Responsibilities:Manages clinical operations of an MDE clinicSupervises the operations and delivery of medical disability servicesImplements, monitors, and maintains clinical practice and quality management standardsEstablishes and maintains effective, collaborative relationships with examiners and other stakeholdersCollaborates with multi-disciplinary stakeholders to resolve issues and meet accessSupervises and maintains Veteran care and quality service standards to meet the expectations of Loyal Healthcare and the VAProvides operational accountability for, and coordination of, diagnostic servicesEnsures examiners deliver high-quality services to Veterans that comply with the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) healthcare standards, as well as with local, state, and federal requirementsEnsures safety in the clinic by inspecting the emergency kits (expired items, etc.) and assisting with medical emergenciesRecommends and evaluates processes to improve systems and Veteran care results across the continuum of careAssists AMs in implementing policies and proceduresSupervises and monitors the implementation of clinic policies and procedures which support the goals of the department and organizationAssists in resolution of administrative and operational issues, including the maintenance of clinic property, computer systems, and installed software applicationsResolves problems in administrative and clinical areas as neededPerforms the duties of a Medical Assistant as neededEnsures all clinic logs are accurate and timelyoClinic logs would include:Automated external defibrillator (AED)Temperature logs of the laboratory fridgesExpired medicationFire extinguisherConducts inventory counts on a consistent basisOrders and stocks medication, addresses shortages if necessaryAssists with rescheduling appointments as needed if View email address on click.appcast.io is unable assistStaffing Responsibilities:Provides first-line supervision and time approval for clinic staffProvides staff with training and education on medical emergencies and equipmentEnsures staff is trained and operates in compliance with all government and other regulatory agenciesSupervises clinical staff, planning and adjusting staffing as needed daily to maintain safe Veteran care and efficient operationsSupervises the use and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and medicationsEvaluates employee performance and recommend merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary actionsEnsures staff provide the highest quality of care, complying with the Joint Commission, local, state, and federal requirementsAdditional Responsibilities:Maintains strict confidentialityEnsures compliance with regulations and standardsActs as a Veteran advocate, resolving Veteran care issuesServes as a liaison between site and external agenciesParticipates in management or leadership meetings as requested or directedAssists leadership in the development of clinic strategic plans and objectives based on the identified needs of VeteransAssists in managing and resolving Human Resource (HR), labor relations, employee and department safety, and risk management issuesPerforms other duties as neededEducation and Experience Requirements· Current Basic Life Support for Providers, by American Heart Association (AHA)· Two or more (2+) years of supervisory or management experience in a health care settingEducation and Experience Preferred· Medical Assistant with current state certification· Associate's degree or 30+ undergraduate college creditsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)Knowledge:· Computer literate with proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, electronic medical records, with the ability to learn new applications easilySkills:· Highly organized and ability to work independently· Excellent observational, verbal, and written communication skillsAbilities:· Ability to administer conflict resolution techniques· Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds· Ability to supervise and direct administrative and clinical personnelSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThe CS supervises clinical and administrative staff, ensuring efficient clinic operations that satisfy the Veteran all relevant stakeholders.Key CollaboratorsThe CS reports to either an AM or CM depending upon the region and assignment, so close collaboration with one or both parties is pivotal to CS success. The CS works directly with clinical and administrative staff, medical examiners, and VA MDE personnel.Physical DemandThe employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move 50 lbs. The employee may be required to transfer and/or treat those who are wheelchair bound.Pay Rate: $58,580.08
