SpEd Paraprofessional
Sandrock Elementary is looking to fill a SpEd paraprofessional position. A Paraprofessional-Teaching Assistant will assist the classroom teacher in helping students learn and/or stay safe. Salary: $17.68 - $27.40 per hour - Aide Classified Salary Schedule, dependent upon experience. Minimum of 49 College Semester Hr. preferred or have passed the WorkKeys Assessment Skills Test. Data collection skills, ability to follow direction, flexible, positive, works well with kids and a team, professional.
Essential duties and responsibilities include: assisting in teaching students how to become independent and responsible at school, assisting with specialized needs that may include behavior, learning, self-help skills and/or communication, assuring that students learn at their own level and have their specialized needs met, collecting or gathering data, documenting student progress, running small learning groups, preparing or setting up activities and materials for the next rotation, period or day, helping students with self-care tasks, monitoring students during class, transitions, lunch or breaks, providing instructional support individually or in small groups, providing one-on-one instruction, meeting with teachers, providing accommodations for students to have access to classroom instruction, helping implement behavior management plans, and other duties as assigned.
Supervisory responsibilities include student or students as assigned and needed by teacher.

Language skills: Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small groups situation to students, staff, parents and administrators. Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other skills and abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication. Physical demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to run; stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. The employee must occasionally push items of 75lbs. or more, such as pushing children on a bike or moving/rearranging furniture. Specific vision abilities required by this include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and is a standard acceptable level for this environment.
