Technical Sourcing Engineer III, Mechanical

Technical Sourcing Engineer III supports Thermo Fisher Scientific's global value assurance by developing sourcing strategies for mechanical components and assemblies. Responsibilities

• Align global sourcing strategy with R&D, product development, quality, and procurement teams
• Execute cost reduction and manufacturing scale-up initiatives for mechanical components
• Address supplier quality issues to maintain production standards
• Build should-cost models and apply DFA/DFM/DFx design methodologies
• Travel globally up to 20% to coordinate supplier activities and projects

Requirements

• Bachelor's in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Physics; Master's preferred
• 5+ years (BS) or 3+ years (MS) in product design, development, and manufacturing
• Expertise in mechanical assembly, cast, machined, and sheet-metal part design
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Pro/e, or equivalent) and value engineering methodologies
• Knowledge of regulatory standards: FDA, NSF, CSA, UL, ISO 13485
• Strong project management and vendor leadership experience
• Medical devices industry experience helpful
