Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at an acute care hospital in Santa Rosa, CA, requiring Level I trauma experience and proficiency across multiple surgical specialties including neuro, vascular, and orthopedics.

Details

• Work setting is a 277-bed acute care hospital in an Operating Room environment
• Surgical specialties include trauma, neuro, vascular, orthopedic, general surgery, gynecology, urology, ENT, bariatrics, thoracic, plastics, and podiatry
• Procedures performed include craniotomies, spinal fusions, total joint replacements, carotid endarterectomy, AAA repair, Whipple procedures, robotic surgery (Da Vinci Xi), and VATS, among others
• Equipment used includes electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana Table, and cell saver
• Charting is done in Epic; experience is required
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (9:00–21:00); variable start times of 7:00 or 9:00 may apply
• Weekend availability required
• On-call is required and distributed equally among all nursing staff approximately every 6 weeks, with up to 6–8 on-call shifts per 6-week period including nights, evenings, and weekends (8-hour increments)
• Occasional night shift coverage may be required during the contract
• Floating between like units within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities is required
• Block scheduling is available at manager's discretion
• Free parking is available on-site

Requirements

• Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of OR experience required; 5 years preferred
• Level I trauma experience required
• Experience across multiple surgical specialties required, including trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedics
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty or setting
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Copies of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are accepted; the 50-mile radius rule applies and may affect pay rate eligibility
• Former permanent employees of the health system must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Travelers are expected to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
• Holiday coverage is required for 2 out of 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day
• RTO (time off) requests must be submitted at the time of consideration; minimal RTO is strongly preferred
• Scrubs are provided for OR/Endo/L&D/PACU assignments
• Orientation modules are completed prior to start and annually; average completion time is approximately 16 hours
