Travel Stepdown RN – PCU (Progressive Care Unit) Location: Burlington, Massachusetts Start Date: 07/13/2026; Duration: 13 weeks, 36 hours per week (12‑hour days) Employment Type: Travel Summary Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Stepdown RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Burlington, Massachusetts. The role involves providing care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical or general inpatient units, requiring frequent monitoring and specialized nursing interventions. Responsibilities Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond appropriately. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, focusing on cardiac care. Prepares equipment and assists physicians during cardiac‑related procedures and examinations. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients. Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisors or physicians of patient status and response to interventions. Responds to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies. Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients. Initiates patient education plans according to individualized needs, focusing on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients. Maintains confidentiality of patients and client information. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice. Adheres to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards. Qualifications One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN. Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations. Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC). Current ACLS Certification (AHA/ARC). Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification – Preferred. NIHSS Certification – Preferred. Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position. Essential Skills Critical thinking and service excellence. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English. Comfortable with PC skills and following written and verbal instructions. Physical abilities: ability to remain in a stationary position, move equipment (50–100 lb), push, pull, and bend. Interpersonal skills: effective collaboration with diverse personnel, positive attitude, and professionalism. Technical/motor skills: fine manipulation and assistance during procedures. Mental requirements: coping with frequent contact with the general public, meeting deadlines under pressure, working independent and under close supervision, handling irregular activity schedules with continuous concentration.
