Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Irrigation Technician to join our dynamic Irrigation District. In this role, you will be responsible for providing flood irrigation to a variety of properties, and repairing irrigation lines to ensure optimal water flow. This position offers paid hands-on training. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with irrigation equipment and able to open and close irrigation valves accurately and efficiently. Current position available is for the second shift hours 2pm-10pm.

Responsibilities

• Open and close valves, gates and standpipes according the irrigation schedule.
• Follow the irrigation schedule according to specific dates and time periods.
• Swap empty mineral oil barrels for full barrels as needed and check oil levels in oil barrels.
• At irrigation pump startup and shutdown, record flow meter, electric meter, hour meter, date, time and milage on the Cycle Report.
• Repair or replace damaged irrigation equipment, including valves, heads, controllers, and wiring components.
• Conduct excavation work using hand tools or excavators to access underground piping or repair sites safely and efficiently.
• Drive the bridle paths and streets on active irrigation lines to check for open valves and leaks. Note any issues on the irrigation schedule.
• Brief the incoming Irrigation Technician of any problems, complaints at the end of your shift.
• Set up valves and standpipes for the next irrigation on the appropriate bridle paths.
• Drive District vehicle to various locations and perform misc. duties like getting supplies, gas, tools, etc.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings.
• Prior to each shift, Irrigation Technicians will verify that all necessary supplies like charged cell phone, ladder, poles, headlamps, etc. are in the vehicle.
• Able to work outside in different weather conditions and stand for most of your shift

Qualifications

• Ability to operate tools safely and efficiently
• Have a valid Driver’s License
• Able to pass a background check and drug screening
• Strong customer service skills
• No experience necessary, willing to learn in a fast-paced environment
• Basic math skills
