Machine Shop Supervisor

We are looking to hire an experienced Machine Shop Supervisor at our Decatur, AL location . Applicants must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug screen and have a valid driver’s license. Classification and base pay rate will be dependent upon skillset and prior experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prioritize and assign work within the department, ensuring projects are completed timely, cost effectively and within quality standards. Quote machining and fabrication jobs for external customers. Work with local department managers to schedule and prioritize machining and fabrication activities in support of the caster repair department. Maintain and provide a formal interface internally and externally. Ensure EH&S and Quality objectives are reached and maintained in the department. Manage a team of hourly machinists and fabricators, including training, coaching, development activities, performance reviews, merit planning, corrective actions, hiring and termination decisions. Support and enable effective communications among the team. Enforce Company procedures and policies. Ensure completion of operational documentation for assigned group, such as travelers, map sheets, job router, work requests to other departments, etc. Ensure completion of safety documentation for assigned group, such as first reports of injury, environmental mishaps, JSA’s, etc. Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge High School Diploma Minimum of 1 year machining experience, preferred 2 to 5 years of related experience Physical Requirements Work performed at ground level and at heights. Frequent: walking, standing, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. Occasional: climbing, kneeling, crouching, lifting and carrying up to 30–50 lbs.
