RN - CVICU


Job Details:


• Work 12-hour shifts, either day or night, from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required with some holidays
• No on-call responsibilities
• 4×12 scheduling available if preferred
• Blocked weekend scheduling available if preferred
• Typically care for 1-2 patients per assignment; may be assigned up to 3 general care patients when acuity is low and staffing resources are limited
• Float as needed throughout the unit
• Pass a telemetry exam prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher; two attempts allowed
• Must achieve 100% identification of lethal rhythms including ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and asystole on adult exam
• CVICU experience required
• Experience and knowledge of NxStage CVVH machine required
• Experience with IABP, Impella, HM3 LVAD, and ECMO required
• Experience in a Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty required
• Travel experience required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Charting in Epic required
• Wisconsin or compact RN license required
• AHA BLS and ACLS required
• Required skills include arterial line management, central line care, CVVHD/CRRT, epicardial pacing wire care, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, ventilator management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, management of post cardiac surgery patients, and care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction

The cardiovascular and cardiothoracic ICU is a dynamic 27-bed unit with private rooms, each capable of ICU-level care. The unit specializes in the care of cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical patients including CABG, valve repair and replacement, aneurysm repair, LVAD, heart transplant, lung transplant, and management of cardiogenic shock and arrhythmias. The nursing team is well-supported with charge RNs, a rapid response nurse, nursing assistants, and a unit clerk, along with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and social services.
