Assistant Teaching Professor of Heavy Equipment Operations

Position Information

Bismarck State College is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operations professional to deliver high-quality, hands-on instruction and help students gain the knowledge and confidence to succeed in the construction and building technology industry

What You'll Do:
  • Support student success by teaching courses in Heavy Equipment Operations
  • Student mentoring
  • Record keeping
  • Campus committee engagement
  • Submitting grades
  • Engage with industry partners
  • Maintain academic curriculum
  • Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certificate or higher in Construction and Building Technology or related areas such as Construction Engineering or Construction Management with 5 years of non-teaching work-related experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the safe operation of heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, and skid steers, including knowledge of equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, blueprint reading, and construction safety practices
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to teach, mentor, and support students from diverse backgrounds
  • Good computer software skills - Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Teams, etc., Outlook E-mail, and Calendar, and strong internet familiarity
  • Will be required to obtain North Dakota State Board for Career and Technical Education certification (up to six years to obtain and training is provided). For more information on the CET certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Postsecondary teaching experience
  • Curriculum development, teaching, and/or training experience
  • Experience with hands-on teaching methods
  • Industry-related certifications
BENEFITS
COMPENSATION : Full-Time, special, 9-month, non-tenure track position. Competitive salary based on directly related experience and education.
  • 9 months: $45,500 - $56,874
