Ultrasound Technologist

PRIMARY FUNCTION The Ultrasound Technologist , under the direction of the Medical Director and the Directorof Radiology,performs diagnostic sonographic examinationsutilizingultrasonicequipment tolocate, evaluate and record critical physiological, pathological, andanatomical data. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Produces ultrasound images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems Monitors and ensures safety of patient and staff Performs patient screening by using established protocols Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and in all functions of the job Provides complete pre and postexamededucation to patients and family DESIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Education: Graduate from an accredited school of sonography or completion of an ultrasoundprogram. Licensure: American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography Registry, Active and unrestrictedA.R.D.M.Scertification OR CCI-RCS, 1 Specialty Registries, Basic Life Support, BLS–HCP Exhibits working knowledge of all Ultrasound equipment and procedures. Referstophysicianorders/chart for any special instructions that may beindicated. Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history. Explainsprocedurescompletelytofacilitatecooperation and alleviate anxiety. Performs all procedures in an efficient andtimelymanner without compromising quality or the mission statement. Coordinates Ultrasound schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
