Counselor

Provide short-term, individual, mental health counseling to Owens Community College students. Essential functions include short-term personal counseling, support groups, group counseling sessions, workshops, psychological tests, documentation of student participation, individual and group career counseling, development and implementation of new counseling initiatives, intake services, and maintaining schedules on a rotational basis.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include evidence-based treatment models, Ohio Ethics Law and Rules, mental health and drug and alcohol needs of the community college student population, Microsoft Office Suite, electronic records management systems, time management, accurate and timely documentation, effective communication skills, crisis management skills, public speaking, group management, consultation skills, ability to work independently, organization, and attention to detail.

Other characteristics include excellent interpersonal skills, development and facilitation of new mental health and drug and alcohol programming, maintaining licensure in Ohio, and compliance with all Ohio's laws and rules for counselors/social workers.

Minimum requirements include a master's degree and licensure as an LPCC or LISW within 45 days of employment for new graduates. Union position: Owens Faculty Association. Job classification: Faculty.
