Respiratory Therapist Opportunity

We're hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local hospital in Alexandria, VA where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders. The Respiratory Therapist provides intensive respiratory care, patient transport, ventilator management, airway procedures, and pulmonary diagnostics within the scope of professional license and facility policy.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate or bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science.
• Current Virginia state RRT license in good standing.
• Minimum one year of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in an acute care or hospital setting.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience operating and maintaining mechanical ventilators, providing invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and performing ventilator setup and self-test.
• Experience with arterial puncture, oximetry, capnography, 12-lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, suctioning, tracheostomy care, and endotracheal tube management.
• Ability to perform pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, and assist with bronchoscopy and chest tube procedures per policy.
• Competence in documentation of respiratory care treatments and charging systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ACLS certification preferred.
• Experience in facilities with moderate complexity laboratories preferred.
• Prior travel or contract RRT experience preferred.

Assignment Details

• Shift pattern: 3x12 day shifts.
