Waterford School seeks a Substitute School Nurse to provide health care support to students in grades PK3-12 when the school nurse is absent. This is an on-call, part-time temporary position during the school year. The Substitute School Nurse responds to student illness and injury, administers medications according to school procedures, and helps students return safely to learning. This role works closely with families, faculty, staff, and school leadership while maintaining the confidentiality of student health information.

The successful candidate will be able to provide compassionate and appropriate care to students of all ages, respond calmly and effectively to urgent health situations, communicate professionally with families and colleagues, and embrace Waterford School's mission, vision, and values as a member of the school community.

Responsibilities

• Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and other health concerns during the school day.
• Provide first aid and determine when a student needs additional medical care.
• Administer medications and follow individual student health plans in accordance with school procedures and applicable requirements.
• Respond to medical emergencies, including activating emergency services when appropriate.
• Document care provided and communicate relevant information to parents or guardians and school staff.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked health office.
• Provide a calm, welcoming environment for students of all ages.

Competencies and Skills Desired.

• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience working with children or adolescents; school nursing experience preferred.
• Sound clinical judgment and the ability to respond calmly to urgent situations.
• Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
• Ability to protect confidential health information and work collaboratively with the school community.
• Successful completion of Waterford School's required background screening.
