IT Specialist
The Local Campus IT Specialist supports arts and technology education, integrating technology for enhanced learning. They maintain systems, provide technical support, and facilitate technology integration. They collaborate with staff and learners, deliver coaching and training, and ensure a secure and innovative learning environment. They contribute to the school's technology roadmap, implement solutions, and foster partnerships. A passion for education, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills are essential for success.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to staff and learners for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related problems promptly to minimize disruptions to daily operations.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
- Conduct regular maintenance and updates on computer systems and software to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with the setup and configuration of audiovisual equipment for presentations and events.
- Collaborate with back office, external vendors, and service providers for technical support and maintenance contracts.
Network and Systems Administration:
- Manage and maintain the school's local area network (LAN) and wireless network infrastructure.
- Monitor network performance and security to identify and resolve any issues or vulnerabilities.
- Implement network security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and user access controls.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and passwords for network resources.
- Conduct regular backups of data and ensure data integrity and disaster recovery procedures are in place.
- Monitor and maintain server systems, including email servers, file servers, and database servers.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and software solutions to improve network and system efficiency.
Information Security:
- Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and information.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential risks.
- Educate staff and learners about best practices for data security and privacy.
- Respond to and mitigate security incidents and breaches, following incident response protocols.
Technology Planning and Procurement:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and administrative team to develop a technology roadmap aligned with the school's strategic goals.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and software solutions to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative processes.
- Prepare and manage the IT budget, including the procurement of hardware, software, and technology services.
- Maintain an inventory of IT assets, including computers, peripherals, licenses, and warranties.
Training and Documentation:
- Develop and deliver technology training sessions and workshops for staff and learners.
- Create user guides, manuals, and documentation to assist users in utilizing technology resources effectively.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in educational technology.
- Share knowledge and provide guidance to staff on integrating technology into instructional practices.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Collaborate with the data and assessment team to ensure accurate and secure data management practices.
- Generate reports and analyze data to support decision-making and inform technology-related initiatives.
- Maintain data privacy and compliance with relevant data protection regulations, such as FERPA.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure technology integration and alignment with school-wide initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including staff, learners, parents, and external partners, regarding technology-related matters.
- Participate in meetings and committees as a representative of the IT department.
Qualifications
- Arts and Technology work experience encouraged.
- Experience with an educational setting and/or real-world experience in being non-traditional, flexible, open-minded, and collaborative.
- Ability to problem solve and work on a variety of different projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
- Very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness.
- Thrive in a collaborative, team-based, and fast-paced environment.
