Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Field Supervisor to lead field installation crews performing energy-efficiency and electrical construction projects at commercial, industrial, institutional, and government facilities.

The Field Supervisor will serve as the primary day-to-day leader on the jobsite, supervising installers, laborers, and other assigned field personnel while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards.

Projects may include LED lighting retrofits, Lutron lighting controls, occupancy and daylight controls, electrical upgrades, sensors, fixtures, and other energy-conservation measures.

Key ResponsibilitiesField Leadership & Crew Supervision

• Supervise installers, entry-level laborers, and assigned field personnel.

• Serve as the primary onsite representative during daily project execution.

• Communicate schedules, production goals, priorities, and project requirements to field crews.

• Assign daily tasks based on employee experience, qualifications, and project needs.

• Lead daily startup meetings covering assignments, safety, production, and priorities.

• Monitor productivity, attendance, workmanship, and professional conduct.

• Provide hands-on coaching, training, and mentoring.

• Promote teamwork, accountability, and professionalism.

Daily Project Execution

• Coordinate daily field activities according to project schedules and customer requirements.

• Review drawings, fixture schedules, material lists, scopes, and installation instructions.

• Identify access issues, safety concerns, equipment requirements, and potential field conflicts.

• Establish daily and weekly production targets with the Construction Project Manager.

• Track labor hours, installation quantities, and project milestones.

• Coordinate lifts, ladders, tools, materials, staging areas, and equipment.

• Report conditions that may impact schedule, budget, labor, scope, or customer operations.

Lighting & Electrical Installation

• Supervise installation of LED fixtures, retrofit kits, drivers, lamps, sensors, switches, controls, and related equipment.

• Ensure installations follow approved drawings, specifications, fixture schedules, and manufacturer instructions.

• Oversee occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, wireless controls, control modules, switches, and related equipment.

• Coordinate electrical activities with electricians, subcontractors, and other qualified personnel.

• Perform or oversee basic troubleshooting within applicable training, licensing, and authorization.

• Ensure employees do not perform work beyond their qualifications or authorization.

Lutron Controls & Commissioning

• Oversee installation of Lutron lighting control systems, including Vive, Athena, Quantum, and similar platforms.

• Coordinate device placement, sensors, control wiring, wireless devices, switches, hubs, and gateways.

• Support system startup and commissioning with project management, electricians, controls technicians, and manufacturers.

• Verify controls operate properly before areas are considered complete.

• Assist with troubleshooting installation-related controls issues.

• Document control devices and locations when required.

Safety Management

• Lead and enforce jobsite safety requirements.

• Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning.

• Ensure proper PPE usage and compliance with OSHA and site-specific requirements.

• Verify employees are properly trained and authorized to operate specialized equipment.

• Enforce lockout/tagout procedures when applicable.

• Identify and correct unsafe work practices or conditions.

• Stop work when conditions present an unacceptable safety risk.

• Report accidents, injuries, near misses, property damage, and significant safety concerns.

• Maintain required safety documentation.

Productivity & Labor Management

• Monitor daily production against established goals.

• Track crew labor hours and support labor-budget compliance.

• Identify productivity issues and implement corrective actions.

• Minimize downtime caused by poor planning, missing materials, equipment issues, or unclear assignments.

• Communicate staffing requirements to the Construction Project Manager.

• Recommend crew-size adjustments based on workload and schedule.

• Report production quantities and labor performance accurately.

Quality Control

• Inspect work performed by installers and laborers.

• Verify fixtures and equipment are securely installed, properly aligned, functional, and professionally finished.

• Ensure affected building components are restored to acceptable condition.

• Test lighting and controls before areas are released.

• Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective work.

• Manage field punch-list completion.

• Minimize rework, callbacks, and warranty issues.

Customer & Jobsite Coordination

• Maintain professional relationships with facility managers, customer representatives, general contractors, subcontractors, and building occupants.

• Coordinate access to work areas.

• Minimize disruption to customer operations.

• Maintain clean, safe, and professional work areas.

• Address routine onsite questions and escalate scope, pricing, schedule, or contractual matters appropriately.

• Do not authorize additional work or scope changes without project-management approval.

Communication & Reporting

• Maintain regular communication with the Construction Project Manager.

• Provide daily updates regarding production, staffing, safety, materials, quality, and field conditions.

• Complete or oversee daily project reports.

• Track completed and remaining work.

• Document field conditions, customer requests, delays, damages, and potential change-order conditions.

• Submit progress photographs and required project documentation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial construction, electrical, lighting, or energy-efficiency installation experience preferred.

• Previous crew-lead, foreman, field supervisor, or similar leadership experience strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to supervise installers, laborers, or construction field personnel.

• Commercial LED lighting retrofit experience strongly preferred.

• Working knowledge of electrical systems, lighting fixtures, controls, sensors, and construction practices.

• Ability to read and interpret project drawings, fixture schedules, installation scopes, and technical documentation.

• Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple crews or work areas while maintaining productivity and quality.

• Ability to accurately track production quantities and labor hours.

• Strong attention to detail and professional customer-service skills.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• Ability to travel to project locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Commercial LED lighting retrofit experience.

• Electrical construction or installation background.

• Foreman, crew-lead, or field-supervisor experience.

• Experience with Lutron Vive, Athena, Quantum, or similar systems.

• Lighting controls commissioning and troubleshooting experience.

• Experience with occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, dimming systems, and wireless controls.

• Experience with utility-sponsored energy-efficiency rebate programs.

• Experience with field verification and energy-savings documentation.

• Ability to read electrical drawings, panel schedules, lighting plans, and fixture schedules.

• Journeyman, Master Electrician, or electrical apprenticeship experience.

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

• Aerial lift or equipment certifications.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work overhead regularly.

• Ability to safely work from ladders and aerial lifts.

• Ability to lift and carry tools, materials, fixtures, and equipment associated with lighting and electrical installations.

• Ability to work in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, offices, schools, healthcare facilities, parking garages, retail locations, and other commercial environments.

• Ability to work nights, weekends, or off-hours when required.

• Ability to travel and stay overnight depending on project location.

• Ability to work safely in active construction and electrical environments.

Reporting Structure

The Field Supervisor reports directly to the Construction Project Manager and provides daily work direction to installers, laborers, and other assigned field personnel. The role coordinates closely with electricians, subcontractors, controls technicians, estimators, and utility or rebate program representatives as needed.
