The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at The University of Alabama invites applications for a full-time, Clinical Assistant Professor of Elementary Education (grades PreK–6) with a specific interest in Literacy EducationDetailed Position Information The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at The University of Alabama invites applications for a full-time, Clinical Assistant Professor of Elementary Education (grades PreK–6) with a specific interest in Literacy Education. The University of Alabama is a Research I institution with considerable emphasis on recruiting productive scholars and effective instructors. This is a nine-month, non-tenure earning position with a contract of three years, eligible for renewal. Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses focused on grades PreK–6 literacy education Supervise practicum and internship experiences as needed Collaborate in further development of innovative undergraduate and graduate grades PreK–6 literacy education courses and programs Collaborate with local schools and school systems Provide service within the University, to state and local education agencies, and to relevant professional organizations Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students Starting Date: August 16, 2027Minimum Qualifications Earned Doctorate in Reading/Literacy Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in literacy education Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience at the PreK–6 levels Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate literacy courses in the Elementary Education program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction Ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate students and interns Demonstrated potential to provide service within the University, to state and local education agencies, and to relevant professional organizations Demonstrated potential to collaborate in elementary schools through partnership activitiesInstructions and Required Materials for Application Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
