Engineering Applications Support Technician

Position Overview The IT Support Specialist’s primary responsibility is to provide proximity IT support of the manufacturing infrastructure and operations, including computer hardware, software, applications, network printers and scanners, as well as other manufacturing‑related technologies. The position will support incident, problem, and change management to facilitate IT initiatives within the location. Key Accountabilities Provide local technical support and assistance for all computer hardware (laptops, printers, RFID antennas, telephones, scanners, etc.). Act as the onsite single point of contact for internal client technical issues, working with internal and external IT teams, including vendors. Deliver dedicated support for design and engineering environments, particularly AutoCAD, Mastercam, and other CAD/CAM applications. Install and configure workstations, software, and systems as designated by the IT division. Follow SOPs and knowledge documentation to ensure consistent solution delivery. Perform IT Service Management using ServiceNow to track, update, and resolve incidents and requests. Communicate escalations to management and external IT teams. Provide training and knowledge transfer to operation staff, including creation of Knowledge Articles and SOPs. Monitor health and track maintenance of local IT systems, including servers, networks, telephony, and other critical systems. Track and maintain IT inventory specific to the location. Technical Skills and Knowledge Strong knowledge of end‑user hardware and peripherals (laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, RFID equipment, telephony). Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting workstations, standard enterprise software, and network‑connected devices. Working knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) practices and tools such as ServiceNow (incident, request, problem, and change management, ticket documentation, status updates). Basic understanding of networking fundamentals, connectivity troubleshooting, and server, network, and telephony system health monitoring from a site‑support perspective. Experience with IT asset and inventory management, tracking and maintaining site‑specific equipment. Documentation, Training, and Communication Follow and apply SOPs and knowledge documentation. Create and maintain Knowledge Articles, site‑specific SOPs, and user‑facing technical documentation and guides. Provide effective training and knowledge transfer to manufacturing and operational staff. Strong verbal and written communication skills, clearly explaining technical concepts to non‑technical users. Ability to appropriately escallate complex or high‑impact issues and communicate with IT leadership and partners. Motivated to learn new technologies and processes. Reliable attendance and schedule adherence to support manufacturing operations.
