Registered Nurse II - Medical Telemetry

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse II to join our Medical Telemetry unit. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a telemetry setting, where you will be responsible for monitoring patients with various medical and surgical diagnoses.

Position Overview

• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification
• Floating Requirements: Must be willing to float to the Multi-Care Unit and Pediatric unit.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 30 (three 10-bed units)
• Nurse-Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• Common Diagnoses:
  • Surgical: Total hip & knee replacement, small bowel resection, hysterectomy, exploratory laparoscopy
  • Medical: MRSA, C-diff infections, suicide attempts, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, pneumonia, COVID-19, chest pain
• Experience Requirements: Minimum of 1 year in Medical/Surgical settings, telemetry experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry data.
• Provide care for patients in both Medical-Surgical Telemetry and Progressive Care Unit settings.
• Participate in patient education and monitoring plans as per patient needs.
• Precept nursing students as needed.
• Complete required dysrhythmia exam on hire; must achieve a passing score within two attempts.

Work Schedule

• Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts (0700/1900 – 1930/0730)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Friday and Saturday for nights, Saturday and Sunday for days)
• Holiday Requirement: Participates in a rotation that distributes holidays fairly.

Additional Information

• Simplified Dress Code: Any scrub color except camouflage is accepted.
• Orientation: Attend hospital orientation and unit orientation based on experience.
• Management Structure: Charge Nurse oversees up to 50 inpatient beds, including telemetry, pediatric, and acuity adaptable units.
