Associate Vice President, Global Promotion Planning and Operations

We are looking for an Associate Vice President, Global Promotion Planning and Operations that will support in providing global leadership for PriceSmart's end-to-end promotional and event capability across all markets. This role is accountable for defining and continuously evolving the operating model, governance, organizational capabilities, processes, systems, and execution standards required to deliver effective, financially sound, and consistently executed promotions and events across both Global Buying and local/in-country buying organizations. What's unique about this job (What you’ll do) Define and continuously evolve PriceSmart's global promotional and event operating model, including governance, decision rights, planning processes, execution standards, and the appropriate balance between global consistency and local market flexibility Provide enterprise leadership for the development and governance of the promotional and event calendar across all markets, covering both globally planned and locally planned promotions and events Establish clear governance, prioritization, accountability, and decision-making frameworks across Global Buying, local buying teams, Marketing, and other key stakeholders Establish the global systems, processes, standards, and governance required to support accurate and consistent promotional and event execution across all markets Establish enterprise-wide quality and execution standards for pricing, signage, and promotional/event setup across all clubs and markets Lead the identification and implementation of system and process improvements that reduce errors and rework while improving speed, scalability, and execution quality Own the enterprise governance and financial integrity of vendor promotional funding, including trade funds collected through deduction or bill-back in accordance with vendor funding agreements Establish the processes, tools, controls, and performance management required to provide accurate visibility into promotional investment and vendor funding across all markets Partner with Buying and Finance to strengthen the forecasting, tracking, and management of vendor promotional funding and identify opportunities to improve financial performance and process maturity Monitor actual and projected vendor funding collection against budget assumptions and proactively identify and elevate enterprise risks and opportunities to Buying and business leadership Establish appropriate financial controls and governance to ensure promotional costs and vendor funding are managed accurately, consistently, and in a financially sound and auditable manner Performance Management & Continuous Improvement Establish and lead the enterprise performance framework for promotions and events, including appropriate KPIs related to financial performance, Member behavior, execution quality, and return on promotional investment Lead post-event and promotional performance analysis and ensure insights are translated into actionable improvements to future promotional strategy, planning, and execution Provide leadership with clear visibility into promotional and event performance, emerging trends, risks, and opportunities Organizational Leadership & Capability Building Provide global leadership for PriceSmart's promotion and event planning and execution capability, establishing the long-term vision and strategic direction for how the capability evolves to support the company's growth and business strategy Define and continuously evolve the future-state operating model, identifying the organizational, process, system, and talent capabilities required to deliver a scalable and effective global promotion and event program Assess the current organizational structure, talent, capabilities, and processes across central and local teams and design and implement the future-state organization required to support PriceSmart's strategic and operational needs Build and lead a high-performing, globally distributed organization with clear roles, accountability, leadership capability, and consistent ways of working across markets, cultures, and time zones Develop the leadership and organizational capabilities required for long-term success, including talent development, succession planning, and ensuring teams have the skills, tools, and resources necessary to deliver against enterprise standards and business objectives Lead ongoing organizational and capability transformation, identifying opportunities to improve effectiveness, scalability, and performance as PriceSmart's business and markets evolve Partner with senior leaders across Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Technology to ensure the promotion and event capability evolves in alignment with broader business priorities Serve as the senior enterprise leader and subject matter expert for promotion and event operations, providing strategic direction and leadership across the organization Bring your passion and expertise (Who you are) 12–15+ years of progressive experience in retail merchandising operations, promotions, or a related field, ideally within a large ($1B+ revenue), multi-unit, and/or publicly traded retail organization, including demonstrated experience leading large, complex functions and geographically distributed teams. Deep understanding of how retail promotions and events work operationally and financially — planning, execution, vendor funding/trade terms, and post-event analysis Proven track record leading complex, cross-functional teams and driving organizational change/restructuring, ideally across multiple markets or geographies Demonstrated ability to operate as an enterprise leader, setting strategy and direction while translating that direction into effective operating models, governance, organizational capabilities, and measurable business outcomes.
