Shift Information

8 or 9 hours per day, 4 days per week.

Qualifications

• Education: Master's Degree from an accredited physical therapy program.
• Experience: Experience working directly with patients in a long-term care or hospital setting.
• Licenses/Certifications: Current Physical Therapist state license; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities: Documentation skills, excellent verbal communication, satisfactory patient service, teamwork, and the ability to provide age-appropriate care.

Position Summary

A Physical Therapist is responsible for planning and executing rehabilitation programs that assist patients in regaining a higher level of physical function after an injury or surgery. Additionally, they may help manage or alleviate pain in patients with degenerative conditions or terminal illnesses. Physical Therapists utilize a combination of physical activity, reflexology, massage, and muscular and skeletal manipulation to enhance patient healing. The role involves collaboration with speech and occupational therapists to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The position includes 90% outpatient and 10% inpatient responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Consult with patients to assess their physical conditions and symptoms, reviewing their medical histories and provider referrals.
• Diagnose movement dysfunctions through observation and patient interaction.
• Develop personalized treatment plans based on patient assessments.
• Educate patients on therapeutic exercises and stretches to aid in recovery.
• Administer hands-on therapy techniques, such as massage, to alleviate pain and promote healing.
• Maintain comprehensive records of patient conditions, care plans, therapies, and progress reports.
• Communicate patient progress and current status to relevant parties, including family members and healthcare providers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Maintain confidentiality regarding patient, family, and staff matters.
• Engage with patients and families from diverse developmental and sociocultural backgrounds.
• Provide information to patients and families to alleviate anxiety and demonstrate care and sensitivity.
• Foster professional relationships and share pertinent information with healthcare team members.
• Communicate effectively with peers and patient care providers concerning clinical care priorities.
• Report security concerns related to healthcare staff to the supervisor or director.

Teamwork

• Accept and prioritize assignments according to unit needs and individual competencies.
• Collaborate with other care providers to ensure task completion and provide clinical support.
• Report on patient conditions to necessary personnel, including physicians and nursing staff.
• Encourage problem-solving and conflict resolution to promote effective working relationships.
• Adhere to scheduled working hours and punctuality.

Professional Development

• Participate in in-services, continuing education, and departmental meetings.
• Contribute to yearly peer performance reviews as required.
• Proactively address opportunities for improving patient care and customer service.
