Youth Director

Part-Time Youth Director

Reports to the Senior Pastor. The Youth Director provides spiritual and organizational leadership to the Valley Baptist Church Student Ministry program for 6th-12th graders. The primary objective of this role is to make disciples of youth by sharing the gospel with non-believers and nurturing believers' faith, while developing partnerships with parents to support and guide their children's spiritual development.

Key Responsibilities

Discipleship & Teaching

• Personally seek spiritual maturity by engaging in regular personal disciplines and active participation in the life of the church.
• Oversee and teach age-appropriate Wednesday Night discipleship programs and help support Sunday School.
• Offer biblically sound counsel and spiritual guidance to students and their families as needed.

Leadership & Volunteer Development

• Identify leadership potential among youth and parents and provide them with opportunities to take active roles in decision-making and community service.
• Recruit, train, and organize a dedicated team of volunteers to serve as Sunday School teachers and ministry leaders.
• Provide leadership, encouragement, and regular check-ins with the volunteer team.

Events & Activities

• Plan, organize, and lead a balanced calendar of youth events throughout the year.
• Fellowship: Coordinate engaging activities to build community (e.g., Six Flags, lock-ins, game nights).
• Spiritual Growth: Organize opportunities for deep spiritual development and service (e.g., winter retreats, summer camps, mission trips).

Administration & Communication

• Develop and manage the annual Youth Ministry budget.
• Maintain open, consistent communication and advertising for all activities to both youth and parents.
• Maintain and enforce a safe, secure environment with appropriate accountability and adult-to-youth ratios.
• Seek (at least) annual feedback from parents to evaluate and improve the ministry's effectiveness.
• Work to maintain the ministry spaces (youth room and warehouse).

Qualifications

• A born-again believer with a clear testimony of faith, demonstrating a lifestyle consistent with Biblical leadership as described in 1 Timothy 3.
• A positive spiritual role model who can communicate and teach God's word in a manner that inspires spiritual growth in the youth.
• Possesses a passionate heart for youth and a calling to student ministry.
• Possesses the ability to guide, mentor, and advocate for the youth
• Possesses leadership, management, relational, and organizational skills.
• In agreement with and supportive of The Baptist Faith and Message.

About Valley Baptist Church

Located in Valley, Alabama, Valley Baptist Church is a growing, multi-generational Southern Baptist congregation. • Response: Our eternal destiny hinges on our response to Jesus (Mark 1:15; John 3:16; Rom 10:9-10; Matt 16:24-26).
