Production Supervisor

Buckeye Corrugated

Production SupervisorResponsible for the day-to-day management of the production floor through supervision, development and training of the production team which includes approximately 20-30 associates. In addition, it is responsible for the efficient movement of product through the plant with a focus on quality and timeliness. Reports to the Plant Manager.Tasks related to this position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:Follows established safety rules, policies and procedures at all timesDirects supervision of production staff including: training associates, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading associates to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performanceMaintains efficient workflows by monitoring processes and variables; implements cost reductions; develops reporting procedures and systemsCompletes production plan by establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising production schedules, resolving problems and reporting results or issuesEnsures operation of equipment by calling for repairs and preventative maintenance; assists in troubleshooting machine issuesProvides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requestsCreates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, budgetary and personnel requirementsMaintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing associates on the use of all equipment and safety protocolsMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publicationsAssists with hands-on operation of machines, including operating and feeding large press machines that requires a full awareness of surroundings, machine pinch points and safety protocolsMaintains inventories of sheets, inks and other converting suppliesReports quality concerns to the Management Team and assists in determining quality guidelinesConducts weekly Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnelCommunicates with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changesOperates forklift, as needed, in tight spaces with human trafficOther duties as assignedFull-time role in a manufacturing plant/warehouse settingSkill Set:Proficient in lean methodsProficient in Amtech job costing moduleProficient in Amtech RPM moduleAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manualsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organizationAbility to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy; calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages, measurement, volume and rateAbility to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situationsResults-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environmentDemonstrates aptitude for problem-solving and able to determine solutions for customersExcellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skillsAssertive leader who holds self and others accountableQualifications Desired:2 -5 years of experience as a production supervisor or managerExperience in the corrugated packaging industry highly preferredWorking knowledge of all production machines, plant equipment and processes, including: equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operationCertified forklift operatorHigh school diploma / GEDPhysical Demands:Stand, walk and communicate with others (both speaking and listening) - regularlyUse hands to adjust, manipulate and feel product - frequently reach with hands and arms - frequentlyStoop, kneel, crouch or crawl - frequentlySit – occasionallyLift and/or move up to 50 pounds – regularlyLift and/or move up to 100 pounds - occasionallySpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusAbout BCI:Buckeye Corrugated, Inc.
