Finishing Operator

Finishing Operator – 4 Months To Perm – Sturbridge, Ma $20 -$21/hr

Finishing Operator sets up and operates multiple machines or hand tools for repetitive billet finishing operations. Product handled ranges from initial bottle or block to finished polished billets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Receives work order from the material tracking board. Material for processing is retrieved from area designated for incoming billets and blocks.
• Prepares billet or block by milling to remove excess material per outer dimension (OD) specifications.
• Mounts billet or block on carbon backing using wax adherent and set specified bias angle.
• Places mounted billet on inner dimension (ID) saw and slices per specifications.
• Edges sliced plates on Mildex machines or occasionally by hand.
• Grinds and polishes plates where applicable to specification.
• Delivers finished billet into polished stock.
• Completes necessary transactions in MRP and in-house material tracking software systems.
• Promote and encourage understanding and use of the ISO 9001 based Quality Management System

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent experience required.
• Technical school training, apprenticeship program, or equivalent work experience may be required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
• Basic math skills required including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to use a computer to complete material transactions, read emails, print documents, etc.
