Job Summary:
Pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) registered nurse position based in a healthcare facility. The role involves providing specialized recovery care for pediatric patients, with responsibilities including airway management, assessment, medication administration, discharge teaching, and monitoring post-anesthesia recovery phases. The position offers a dynamic environment with varied patient procedures and focus on safety and patient comfort.

Job Details:

• Shift Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid RN licensure, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, at least 16 years of nursing experience, and current CPR certification.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior recovery room or pediatric intensive care unit experience; familiarity with airway management techniques and pediatric assessment skills.
• Schedule: 2 days 8-hour shifts and 2 days 10-hour shifts weekly, with start times fluctuating between 07:30 and 08:30, always commencing at 08:30 on Thursdays. Orientation consists of one day in PACU including stepdown care.
• Additional Information: The role involves caring for diverse patient populations requiring procedures such as endoscopies, magnetic resonance imaging, and complex surgeries including chest repairs and spinal fusions. Responsibilities include airway management, patient scoring using the Modified Aldrete Score, assessment, medication administration, and discharge planning, with emphasis on airway stabilization, patient assessment, and communication with anesthesiologists and surgeons.
