Determine patients' faith or preferences for pastoral care. Convey assessments to other professionals to be considered in total patient care. Meet the religious and spiritual needs of patients. Provide pastoral care in a timely manner, including initial visits to newly admitted patients, daily ward visitations, and visits to seriously ill patients in intensive care units, as well as preoperative and postoperative patients. Perform pastoral interviews to ascertain patients' religious backgrounds, evaluate their religious needs, and advise on specialized spiritual resources. Document patient care in accordance with department policies. Document all emergency call backs, responses to patient and family requests, referrals from other staff members, initial visits for seriously ill patients, and any significant information relevant to total health care treatment in patient medical records. Serve as a spiritual counselor to patients, their families, and staff members on ethical and moral matters. Provide spiritual consolation, support, and guidance to those looking to address personal problems related to illness or confinement. Perform pre-operative and post-operative visits in a professional manner. Counsel patients and provide supportive care for family members of patients with life-threatening illnesses, those diagnosed as terminal, and at the time of patient death. Possess thorough knowledge gained from extensive professional training and practical pastoral experience. Perform independent and responsible professional religious ministry. Work under the general professional direction of the Associate Director of Spiritual Care. Consult with supervisors and colleagues to develop knowledge and apply policies and practices. Emphasize religious services, while recognizing that the program is not significantly marked by intensive pastoral counseling. Meet the needs of customers while supporting the organization's mission. Consistently communicate and treat customers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provide consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handle conflicts and problems constructively and appropriately. Provide care and/or services appropriate to the age of the patients being served. Assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret information to identify age-specific needs. Protect printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Ensure data protection from unauthorized release, loss, alteration, or deletion. Follow regulations regarding access to computerized files and the release of access codes. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Windows-based office software, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
