Benefit Verification Specialist

The Benefits Verification Specialist will contact insurance companies, on behalf of the physician’s office, to verify patient‑specific benefits, ask appropriate questions regarding patient benefits, and complete data entry or appropriate forms to document coverage. This position is full‑time and scheduled Monday‑Friday. Responsibilities Collect and review all patient insurance information needed to complete the benefit verification process for multiple entities. Verify patient‑specific benefits and precisely document specifics for various payer plans, including patient coverage, cost share, and access/provider options according to program‑specific SOPs. Perform electronic validation of pharmacy coverage and medical eligibility. Identify any restrictions and details on how to expedite patient access. Document and initiate prior authorization processes, claims appeals, etc. Complete quality reviews of work as part of finalizing the product. Report any reimbursement trends or delays to a supervisor. Perform related duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications Minimum one year of healthcare facility, provider, or payer benefits verification experience, or equivalent experience. Prior electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) experience. Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity. Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Excellent interpersonal skills, able to interact professionally with individuals at all levels, internal and external. Sound judgment in responding to inquiries and routing to the appropriate level. Self‑motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast‑paced office environment; focus, flexibility, and adaptability to changing situations. Team player who develops strong collaborative relationships with internal partners and can effectively engage and build consensus among cross‑functional teams.
