Job Title: Construction Materials Technician Job Description
This entry-level Construction Materials Technician role offers hands-on experience in construction materials testing for projects in West Tennessee and Northeast Arkansas. You will learn to perform quality assurance and quality control testing on concrete, soils, and aggregates at commercial construction sites and in a materials laboratory, supporting safe, compliant, and high-quality construction work.
Responsibilities
This role is based out of a small local office supporting national projects, with work performed both on commercial construction sites and in a materials testing laboratory. You will spend significant time outdoors on active job sites, working around ongoing construction activities and concrete pours, as well as indoors in a lab setting with testing equipment and materials. The schedule is project-driven and requires flexibility, including early morning and evening hours when concrete is being poured or critical testing is needed. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork, offering the opportunity to learn specialized testing skills while contributing directly to the success of construction projects.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.

This entry-level Construction Materials Technician role offers hands-on experience in construction materials testing for projects in West Tennessee and Northeast Arkansas. Responsibilities
- Perform quality assurance and quality control testing on construction materials, including concrete, soils, and aggregates, under guidance and in accordance with established procedures and standards.
- Conduct field testing on commercial construction sites, including concrete tests such as slump, air content, compression, and temperature measurements.
- Execute laboratory testing on soils and aggregates, including density tests, proctors, Atterberg limits, and other related analyses.
- Accurately collect, label, and document samples from construction sites for testing in the field and laboratory environments.
- Record test results clearly and consistently, ensuring all data is complete, accurate, and ready for review and reporting.
- Follow all safety protocols and site rules while working on active commercial construction projects and in the materials lab.
- Maintain testing equipment and tools in good working condition, reporting any issues or malfunctions promptly.
- Collaborate with project teams and supervisors to ensure testing is completed when concrete is being poured and other critical construction activities occur.
- Adapt to changing project needs and schedules, including early morning, daytime, and evening work as required by site activities.
- Support a culture of quality, safety, and continuous learning by following standard operating procedures and seeking guidance when needed.
- Basic knowledge of construction practices and terminology.
- Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions on active commercial construction sites.
- Interest in learning construction materials testing for concrete, soils, and aggregates.
- Ability to perform field and laboratory testing following detailed instructions and standardized procedures.
- Attention to detail when recording test results and preparing documentation.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings and evenings, based on construction site needs.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment in both field and lab settings.
- Previous experience testing construction materials such as concrete, soils, or aggregates is preferred.
- ACI Level I Concrete Field Testing Technician certification is preferred.
- Experience with concrete testing, inspection, or construction materials testing is beneficial.
- Familiarity with tests such as slump, air content, compression, temperature, density, proctors, and Atterberg limits is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills to interact with site personnel and laboratory staff.
- Reliability and strong work ethic in a project-driven environment.
