Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Job Summary Maintain and implement /improve written environmental health and safety management programs in line with legal and regulatory requirements and corporate guidelines. Knowledge and Skills (Education) HS Diploma plus B.S. degree in health and safety, engineering, or related field and/or combination of education and related EHS experience preferred. Minimum of three years' experience in a health and safety position in a manufacturing environment required with understanding of automated processes, chemical storage and handling, hazardous materials, and waste handling. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite. Major Accountabilities Work with EHS Regional Lead and Manager to support adherence to critical environmental work instructions. Highly organized and efficient with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations. Provide support for general plant training including new hire orientation as needed. Responsible for communication of EHS goals and objectives, as well as EHS management reporting. Coordinate, train and lead safety and emergency response teams. Conduct EHS audits and manage and direct related corrective and preventative actions. Create improvements in processes, design, procedures, and programs to minimize risk. Work Environment Office Environment Plant Floor Physical Demands Ability to work on a computer for long periods of time. Ability to conduct training for small and large groups. Ability to be present on the production floor.
