Store Manager - South Pacific Region

Overview Store Manager – Bench Program. This role prepares experienced store managers for a leadership position at Cost.U.Less. The bench position provides hands‑on learning and advanced management exposure, culminating in a transition to a full Store Manager role when one becomes available. Key Accountabilities Provide supervision and overall leadership to the store. Ensure Best Practice standards are communicated to, and adhered to by, store staff. Implement corporate direction from the office, regional manager, and field support personnel. Participate in planning and execution of store resets. Monitor compliance with Federal, State, Territory, and local regulations affecting daily operations. Track expense lines, guide staff on business practices, and establish controls to reduce costs and improve profitability. Control local purchases to maintain tight inventory turns and value. Communicate to procurement staff and regional manager competitive issues, merchandising opportunities, and product line improvements. Develop and execute effective monthly operational plans aligned with regional programs and objectives. Report tax, duty, and rate changes to corporate office promptly. Contribute to the store’s operating plan and capital budget. Achieve performance targets set in plans and report any variances to plan via monthly financial statements. Provide timely communication to operational staff and the Regional/Corporate office. Coordinate inter‑departmental activities with procurement, maintenance, advertising, human resources, and accounting. Assist Category Managers in refining the product mix, identifying problem areas, and recommending promotions or markdowns. Assist Accounting in proper coding of expenses to ensure accurate financial statements. Communicate with logistics to identify discrepancies and keep inventory reports accurate. Submit all monthly reports within required deadlines. Provide operational and merchandising training to staff, covering product familiarity, merchandising standards, and housekeeping. Ensure all managers create a safe and sanitary environment for customers and employees. Apply operational and financial standards to reduce shrink and drive profitability. Develop staff for managerial roles and track progress in training programs. Recommend individuals for promotion based on training completion. Desired Skills & Experience College degree preferred; minimum 12th grade education. Five years of experience managing a large retail store or big‑box environment. Familiarity with US product mix. Strong oral and written communication skills. Business acumen and ability to multi‑task. Problem‑solving capabilities. Computer skills in Excel, Word, and Windows. Working Conditions Ability to travel 3–4 weeks per year. Flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Hands‑on involvement in a physical, fast‑paced environment. Operations may occur in areas experiencing natural disasters. Flexibility to work in any geographic area where Cost.U.Less operates, including Guam, Fiji, American Samoa, and Hawaii. Positions will be advertised externally, but internal candidates receive first consideration based on qualifications.
