Environmental Health Safety Coordinator

EHS Coordinator – Make a Real Impact in Safety at Fuji! Fuji Vegetable Oil is seeking an EHS Coordinator to support our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department in maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. This role is responsible for assisting with regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, safety training, incident investigations, fire protection systems, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about workplace safety, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Key Responsibilities Compliance & Regulatory Responsibilities Assist in the implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Support regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance initiatives. Maintain accurate documentation and records required for regulatory compliance. Monitor and evaluate contractor and subcontractor EHS performance to ensure compliance with company standards and contractual requirements. Conduct routine safety inspections and assist in correcting unsafe acts and conditions. Support emergency preparedness activities, including emergency action plans, evacuation procedures, and fire drills. Manage and monitor fire alarm and fire protection systems, coordinate with vendors, troubleshoot issues, and ensure proper system functionality. Assist with environmental compliance activities, including spill prevention and reporting requirements. Safety & Risk Management Provide technical support in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating occupational health and safety hazards. Conduct safety shower, eyewash station, and fire extinguisher inspections. Monitor hot work permits, confined space entry permits, and other safety-critical work authorization processes. Assist with implementation, training, and compliance monitoring of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Participate in risk assessments, root cause analyses, and corrective action development. Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for improvement. Collaborate with supervisors and team leaders to identify hazards and implement effective corrective actions. Recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and work practices to reduce the risk of injuries, illnesses, and environmental incidents. Training & Employee Development Assist in developing and delivering safety training programs. Conduct or support employee training related to OSHA requirements, company policies, equipment operation, and safe work practices. Provide hands‑on training for forklift operation, mobile elevated work platforms (MEWP), and backhoe operation as qualified. Promote employee engagement and participation in safety initiatives. Communication & Reporting Maintain effective communication with employees, supervisors, contractors, and regulatory agencies as needed. Prepare reports, metrics, and documentation related to safety performance and compliance activities. Support EHS‑related meetings, investigations, and corrective action follow‑up activities. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the EHS Manager. Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience with manufacturing process systems and industrial safety programs. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and general industry safety requirements. Demonstrated experience with Hazard Communication, Confined Space Entry, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Root Cause Analysis, and Spill Prevention programs. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams. Ability to obtain AED, CPR, and First Aid certifications. Preferred Qualifications OSHA 10‑Hour or 30‑Hour General Industry certification. Completion of OSHA 511, OSHA 501, OSHA 503, or equivalent safety training. Knowledge of NFPA 101 Life Safety Code. Experience with fire alarm systems, fire protection equipment, sprinkler systems, or industrial emergency response programs. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Additional Requirements Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to travel occasionally for training, audits, inspections, or company business. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship. Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights, and enter confined spaces as required. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection when necessary. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to moving mechanical equipment, chemicals, elevated temperatures, varying weather conditions, and industrial noise.
