About Us
Elevated Materials is at the forefront of lithium battery technology, revolutionizing energy storage by enabling dramatically better battery performance. Elevated Materials’ ultra-thin lithium films increase energy density by 30-70%, extend battery life up to 3x, and enable significantly faster charging times. This technology is used for all lithium-ion battery applications, including electric vehicles, aviation, consumer electronics, and grid storage. Currently in the commercialization stage with R&D and manufacturing in the Bay Area and Germany, Elevated Materials is poised to make a significant impact in the global battery industry. As an independent entity spun out of Applied Materials and co-owned with TPG, Elevated Materials’ mission is to accelerate the clean energy revolution, driving universal adoption and a more sustainable future.
About The Role
We are seeking a Director, Product Marketing, to lead the global market strategy and commercialization of ultra-thin lithium films for next‑generation battery applications. The ideal candidate combines deep battery‑industry expertise with strong commercial judgment and can translate customer needs, technology trends, and market economics into differentiated product strategies that drive adoption and revenue growth.
This is a highly hands‑on, customer‑facing role.
You will meet directly with customers, develop Statements of Market Requirements, build technical and commercial presentations, create cost and pricing models, and partner closely with engineering, R&D, operations, and sales to move products from technology readiness to market adoption.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Product & Market Strategy
- Lead product strategy, positioning, portfolio definition, and lifecycle management for ultra‑thin lithium film technologies.
- Define customer and application segmentation across EV, consumer electronics, energy storage, eAircraft, military, and other emerging markets.
- Develop product and technology roadmaps, product configurations, market requirements, and pricing frameworks.
- Translate battery technology and market trends into actionable product and commercialization strategies aligned with long‑term business objectives.
Voice of the Customer & Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Serve as the voice of the customer, gathering and translating customer needs, performance expectations, and application requirements into actionable product specifications.
- Develop and maintain Statements of Market Requirements (SMR) and Product Specification Requirements (PSR).
- Partner closely with Engineering, R&D, Operations, and Sales to align product development, technical priorities, production readiness, and commercialization plans with customer needs.
- Lead complex cross‑functional initiatives and influence technical and business decisions across the organization.
Business Planning, Pricing & Commercialization
- Develop business plans incorporating TAM/SAM/SOM analysis, revenue and margin projections, KPIs, technical and market risks, commercialization plans, and program milestones.
- Build customer‑specific business cases, deployment strategies, and commercial frameworks for strategic accounts and partnerships.
- Develop value‑based pricing strategies and models that balance customer economics, competitive positioning, revenue growth, and margin objectives.
- Recommend investment and resource allocation priorities across Engineering, R&D, and Operations based on market opportunity and expected return.
Technical Marketing & Sales Enablement
- Translate complex technical capabilities into clear, differentiated customer value propositions and compelling product messaging.
- Develop technical storytelling and tiered sales messaging, ranging from executive‑level positioning and elevator pitches to detailed technical presentations.
- Lead the development of technical marketing materials, including presentations, white papers, application notes, datasheets, product briefs, and thought leadership content.
- Equip Sales with the tools, training, competitive positioning, and technical content needed to support customer adoption and win strategic opportunities.
- Participate directly in technical and executive‑level customer discussions.
Market Intelligence, Competitive Strategy & Analytics
- Monitor lithium‑ion battery materials, technologies, competitors, customer roadmaps, regulatory developments, and emerging applications across EV, ESS, and adjacent markets.
- Lead competitive intelligence, red‑team exercises, and win/loss analysis to anticipate competitive moves and strengthen market positioning.
- Develop and maintain battery and product cost models, value‑based pricing models, Cost of Ownership (COO) models, Factory P&L models, and margin optimization analyses.
- Conduct scenario, sensitivity, risk, and cost‑benefit analyses to inform product, pricing, commercialization, and investment decisions.
- Provide leadership with actionable insights on market dynamics, competitive developments, risks, and growth opportunities.
Go‑to‑Market, Customer & Industry Leadership
- Define and execute go‑to‑market strategies, including market‑entry sequencing, customer adoption plans, product launches, and revenue‑ramp strategies.
- Build strong relationships with battery manufacturers, automotive OEMs, strategic partners, and other stakeholders across the battery ecosystem.
- Represent the company at customer meetings, industry conferences, technical forums, and other strategic engagements.
- Provide visible leadership across the organization, combining deep technical expertise, commercial judgment, and a customer‑focused approach to drive market adoption and business growth.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Business, Marketing, or a related field required. MBA, advanced technical degree, or equivalent relevant industry experience preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in product marketing, product management, commercialization, or related roles within advanced technology markets.
- Significant experience in the lithium‑ion battery, battery materials, or energy storage industry, with strong knowledge of lithium metal and next‑generation battery technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record of successfully bringing new technologies or products from development through commercialization and market adoption.
- Strong understanding of battery architecture, materials, applications, and the global battery supply chain.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical capabilities and customer requirements into compelling product, market, and commercial strategies.
